One thing first: NTRVSTA wrote this comparison, and we sell a product that also runs technical interviews. We drew every Codility and CoderPad fact from the two companies' own sites and press, and we suggest an alternative at the end.
For most engineering teams, the codility vs coderpad decision is between two kinds of rigor. Codility puts its weight on validated, proctored assessments and integrity checks. CoderPad puts it on a realistic, collaborative environment for live interviews, with lightweight screens in front. Both now let candidates code with AI assistants, which changes what a good technical interview looks like.
The short answer
Choose Codility if you're an enterprise or regulated employer that wants I/O-psychologist-designed coding assessments, proctoring, ID verification, impersonation detection and controlled AI use, and you can commit to an annual plan from $4,800. Choose CoderPad if you want the live coding pad your engineers already know, cheap entry plans from $80 a month, an AI-reviewed video pre-screen (Qualify) and AI coding agents inside the pad.
Side by side: Codility vs CoderPad
Where Codility is stronger
Codility built its name on assessment quality. It says its tasks are designed with I/O psychologists, and its Custom plan adds assessment validation and fairness analysis. It now tests AI-era skills directly: prompt engineering, judging AI output and debugging AI-written code, with customers setting how candidates may use its Agentic AI Copilot.
- Integrity tooling: plagiarism detection, proctoring with snapshots, task leakage protection, and on Enterprise, ID verification and video proctoring.
- Broad compliance list: SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, CCPA and WCAG 2.2 AA, per Codility.
- Enterprise integrations including Workday and SAP, plus EU or US hosting.
- Large-company references such as GitHub, SpaceX, Barclays and Citi.
Where CoderPad is stronger
CoderPad's live pad supports more than 99 programming languages and frameworks, records sessions for playback, and on its Frontier plans puts Claude Code and Codex inside the environment so interviewers watch how candidates direct an AI agent. Qualify adds an earlier step: candidates answer set questions on video, and an AI reviewer scores them against your rubric to build a ranked shortlist.
- Low entry price and monthly billing, with a free trial that needs no card.
- Clear overage pricing: $30 per extra test or interview.
- Enterprise extras like an AI Interview Coach for the human interviewer and AI follow-up questions on the candidate's code.
- SOC 2 Type 2, per CoderPad.
Pricing compared
Codility's online plans start at $4,800 a year, with packs from 200 to 1,400 invites and five platform users (ten at the top pack). Monthly billing starts at $800 for 25 invites, and Codility says annual saves up to 50%. Enterprise is a custom quote. CoderPad lists Starter at $80 a month annually or $120 monthly (60 a year or 5 a month), Team at $400 or $500 (360 a year or 30 a month), and Frontier Lite at $1,000 a month, annual only. Annual plans are billed upfront.
One detail worth knowing: CoderPad says that on annual plans, going over your yearly quota renews you onto the same plan early and resets your billing date, with notice first. On monthly plans, extras cost $30 each. Codility moves you to the next pack when you run out. Our Codility pricing and CoderPad pricing guides cover the details.
Who should pick which
- You need proctoring, ID checks and validated assessments for a large hiring program: Codility.
- Your engineers run live pair-programming interviews and want the familiar pad: CoderPad.
- You're a startup hiring a few engineers a year: CoderPad Starter.
- You need Workday or SAP integration: Codility Enterprise (CoderPad names Workday on Enterprise too).
- You want to see how candidates work with AI coding agents: either; compare Codility's Copilot rules with CoderPad's Frontier pad.

A third option: NTRVSTA
If you want a proctored coding test or a pad for your own engineers, Codility or CoderPad is the right tool and we won't replace either. NTRVSTA helps a step earlier: Carolina sources engineers, ranks resumes and runs a live AI interview that adapts its technical questions to each answer, so your engineers only spend pad time on a shortlist. It works inside your ATS; see our pricing section.
- Live first-round technical interviews by video avatar or audio, 24/7.
- Score breakdowns, video snippets and shareable reports.
- Interview and panel booking on your calendar.
Questions
Is CoderPad cheaper than Codility?
At the entry level, yes. CoderPad's Starter plan is $80 a month billed annually ($120 monthly) for 60 interviews or tests a year. Codility's online plans start at $4,800 a year, or $800 a month for 25 invites. At $4,800 a year, CoderPad's Team plan gives 360 interviews or tests, while Codility's annual packs run from 200 to 1,400 invites.
Do Codility or CoderPad have an AI interviewer?
Not one that runs the interview on its own. Codility's online plans include AI follow-up questions and personalized candidate feedback, and its Enterprise plan lists AI-native interviews and screening with frontier models, but live interviews are led by people. CoderPad's Qualify product has candidates record video answers that an AI reviewer scores, and its live interviews are human-led.
Can candidates use AI tools during a Codility or CoderPad interview?
Yes, if you allow it. Codility lets you set rules for its Agentic AI Copilot and includes Claude Code and Codex in the terminal on its online plans. CoderPad puts AI assistants, including Claude Code and Codex, in the pad on its higher plans so interviewers can see the prompts and edits.
Which integrates with Greenhouse?
Both, at different tiers. Codility's online plans include one standard ATS integration such as Greenhouse, Lever or Ashby, and Enterprise adds every integration including Workday and SAP. CoderPad lists Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby and Workday on its Enterprise plan.
