In the spirit of disclosure: NTRVSTA wrote this guide to Codility alternatives, and NTRVSTA appears in it. Facts about Codility and the other tools are limited to what each company publishes, with links at the end.
Codility is known for rigorous, proctored coding assessments and structured live interviews in a VS Code environment, with customers like GitHub, Tesla and Barclays. Teams compare Codility alternatives for a few structural reasons. Codility doesn't sell an AI interviewer: its interviews are led by people, and AI follow-up questions appear only on its custom plan. Its published plans come with invite caps: Starter is $1,200 a year for 120 invites and one user, and Scale is $6,000 for 300 invite credits. Some teams also want one tool that screens non-engineering roles too. If assessment rigor and integrity are your top priority, Codility may still be your best option.
Codility alternatives at a glance
1. HackerRank
HackerRank covers Codility's core (async coding assessments and live technical interviews) and adds Chakra, an AI interviewer that went generally available on October 5, 2026. HackerRank says Chakra presents a real-world problem in a canvas, watches how candidates work with an AI assistant, asks adaptive voice follow-ups and scores each competency with evidence. That's a direct answer for teams that want AI to run part of the interview.
HackerRank's Starter plan is $199/mo or $1,990/yr for 60 attempts a year, and Pro is $449/mo for 360. Chakra pricing is separate and not published. It lists SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
Best for: engineering teams that want assessments plus an AI interviewer from a category leader.
2. CodeSignal
CodeSignal sells coding assessments, live interviews, interviewer training and an AI Interviewer that candidates talk to by phone or browser. CodeSignal says its assessments are validated by I-O psychologists, which will matter to Codility customers who chose it for rigor. CodeSignal offers monthly or annual billing: Build is $99/mo monthly or $79/mo billed annually.
Best for: teams that want rigorous assessments and AI interviews with a low entry price.
3. CoderPad
CoderPad is strongest where Codility's Interview product competes: live coding. CoderPad says its pad supports 99+ languages and frameworks, and its Frontier Lite plan ($1,000/mo, annual) puts Claude Code and Codex in the pad so interviewers can see how candidates prompt and edit. That's similar in spirit to Codility's controlled Agentic AI Copilot. CoderPad lists SOC 2 Type 2 and offers webcam proctoring on Enterprise.
Best for: teams that want realistic, AI-enabled live coding interviews with human interviewers.
4. NTRVSTA (us)
NTRVSTA fits before Codility in the funnel, not instead of all of it. Codility's assessments test code against tasks. We run the first conversation: a live AI interviewer, as a video avatar or as audio only, that asks technical questions and moves difficulty up or down with each answer. The exam library covers Java, Python, C++, JavaScript, React, Angular, Node.js, AI/ML and DevOps tools. System-design interviews come with an interactive whiteboard, and a hint system shows how candidates respond to help.
You get a score breakdown (technical skills, English proficiency, communication), video snippets and a shareable report, plus AI resume scoring. We publish pricing and an NYC Local Law 144 bias audit on our compliance page. Be aware: we don't offer proctoring, ID verification or a public API (it's coming soon), and Codility's enterprise security list is longer. For the full contrast, see NTRVSTA vs Codility.
Best for: teams that want an adaptive AI interview to filter candidates before a proctored coding test or a human round.
5. Karat
Karat takes interviews off your engineers' calendars. Its trained Interview Engineers run structured technical interviews for you. Since December 2025, Karat NextGen has candidates work on multi-file projects with an AI assistant while a live interviewer probes their reasoning. Karat names Mastercard, Duolingo and Citi among its customers. Pricing isn't published.
Best for: organizations where engineer time for interviews is the bottleneck.
6. iMocha
iMocha says it offers 10,000+ validated assessments across coding, cognitive, domain and communication skills, plus an AI interviewer, Tara, that follows up based on spoken answers. It lists SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001:2022 and integrates with Workday, SAP SuccessFactors and Oracle. Pricing isn't published.
Best for: large enterprises, especially IT services, that want a broad assessment library and an AI interviewer.
When to stay with Codility
Codility is still a great fit when integrity and rigor come first. It offers proctoring, ID verification and impersonation detection, and lets you control exactly how candidates use its AI Copilot during tasks. It lists SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, CCPA and WCAG 2.2 AA, and says its assessments are designed by I/O psychologists. Its custom plan adds assessment validation, fairness analysis and AI follow-up questions. If those are must-haves, the switch may not be worth it.

Questions
Does Codility have an AI interviewer?
No. Codility's interviews are led by people. Its AI features are an in-IDE Agentic AI Copilot, which you control, and AI follow-up questions on the custom plan.
Which Codility alternative is cheapest to start?
CodeSignal's Build plan starts at $79/mo billed annually, and CoderPad's Starter plan at $80/mo billed annually. Both cost less per year than Codility's $1,200 Starter plan, though the number of included interviews and invites differs, so compare at your real volume.
Should an AI interview replace a coding assessment?
Not always. Many teams use an AI interview to judge reasoning and communication first, then send finalists a coding task. That keeps assessments for candidates who are already a likely fit.
