Full disclosure: NTRVSTA wrote this HireVue vs NTRVSTA comparison, and we're one of the two products in it. Every fact about HireVue below comes from what HireVue publishes, with links in the Sources list at the end.
The short answer
Choose HireVue if you want one long-established vendor for AI voice screening, one-way and live video interviews, and validated assessments, backed by a deep stack of compliance documents. Choose NTRVSTA if you want a focused AI interviewer that talks with candidates live as a video avatar or by audio, adjusts difficulty to each answer, and covers technical and non-technical roles. NTRVSTA also scores resumes and publishes its pricing, starting at $299/mo. HireVue doesn't publish pricing, so you'll need a quote.
Side by side: HireVue vs NTRVSTA
How NTRVSTA works
NTRVSTA runs a live, real-time interview with each candidate. You choose whether the interviewer appears as a video avatar or speaks as audio only. It adjusts to each answer: questions get harder when a candidate does well and easier when they struggle. Candidates take the interview 24/7 on their own schedule, so nobody has to coordinate calendars.
It covers technical and non-technical roles. The exam library includes programming languages (Java, Python, C++, JavaScript and more), frameworks and tools (React, Angular, Node.js, AI/ML, DevOps tools) and soft skills like communication, problem-solving and leadership. Behavioral questions follow the STAR method. A hint system shows how candidates take guidance, and system-design interviews come with an interactive whiteboard. You can pick a ready-made avatar or a tailored one that matches your recruiter's look, brand the interview, and run it in multiple languages.
After each interview you get a score breakdown (technical skills, English proficiency, communication), video snippets of key moments, and a shareable report. Separately, AI resume scoring ranks every resume against your job description and surfaces the top candidates. NTRVSTA works alongside your ATS (Lever and others), and most teams are set up within a few days.
How HireVue works
HireVue says its AI Interviewer, launched in June 2026, drafts questions and scoring rubrics from your job description. It then runs a two-way voice interview, available 24/7, with probing follow-up questions. HireVue says it scores each answer against the role's criteria, explains its reasoning, and writes the results into your ATS, with humans making the final decision.
The AI Interviewer sits inside a broader platform. HireVue also sells one-way (on-demand) video interviews, live video interviews with a co-pilot for Zoom and Teams, game-based assessments, skills tests through its Assessment Builder, and a career-site chat agent called Match and Apply. HireVue says the AI Interviewer runs in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese "and more."
HireVue publishes a lot on compliance. It lists SOC 2 Type 2, ISO/IEC 27001, FedRAMP and GDPR, and it has an AI Explainability Statement. It says its fairness audits cover NYC Local Law 144 and that DCI Consulting Group has run external bias audits of its algorithms. HireVue is independent, and the customers it names include IKEA, Nestlé, Swire Coca-Cola and AdventHealth.
When HireVue is the better choice
- You want one vendor for AI screening, one-way video, live video and validated assessments, instead of adding a focused interview tool.
- Your security review asks for documents HireVue lists, like a SOC 2 Type 2 report or FedRAMP. We don't publish those today.
- You need a long list of native connections. HireVue says it works with 45+ ATS, and our native list is shorter.
- You want a vendor with large, named enterprise references, such as IKEA and Nestlé.
More broadly, here's where NTRVSTA isn't the right fit. It's an interview and screening layer, not an ATS, so you keep your ATS. Our public API is coming soon but isn't available yet. It isn't built for high-volume hourly hiring with chat-based scheduling or SMS apply, where conversational tools like Paradox or Fountain fit better. If you want human interviewers, a Karat-style interview service is a better match. And we're newer and smaller than enterprise incumbents, with fewer published enterprise case studies.
Pricing compared
HireVue doesn't publish pricing. Its pricing page leads to a demo request, so you'll need a quote before you can compare cost per interview.
NTRVSTA prices by credits, with a public calculator on our pricing section. An audio interview uses 1 credit per minute, and an avatar interview uses 3 credits per minute.
- Free Demo: $0, 50 credits, 1 concurrent interview.
- Starter: $299/mo, 1,500 credits (about 30 interviews a month), 3 concurrent, email support.
- Growth: $699/mo, 4,000 credits (about 80 interviews a month), 5 concurrent, priority support.
- Scale: $1,999/mo, 12,500 credits (about 250 interviews a month), 15 concurrent, priority support and an SLA.
- Enterprise: custom credits, SSO/SAML, a dedicated CSM, and on-prem available.
Here's the per-interview math. Growth at 80 interviews a month works out to about $8.74 per interview. Format and length drive the cost: a 25-minute audio interview is 25 credits, and the same interview with an avatar is 75 credits. Our AI interview pricing guide explains how to compare credit-based and quoted pricing.

Questions
Does HireVue publish its pricing?
No. HireVue's pricing page asks you to request a demo, and no plan prices are listed. NTRVSTA's plans are public, from a $0 Free Demo to $1,999/mo for Scale, with custom Enterprise plans.
Is HireVue's AI Interviewer a video avatar?

Do both have an NYC Local Law 144 bias audit?
HireVue says its fairness audits cover NYC Local Law 144 and that DCI Consulting Group has run external bias audits of its algorithms. NTRVSTA's independent bias audit by Asenion was finalized on October 20, 2026, and the details are on our compliance page.
Can I use NTRVSTA with my ATS?
Yes. NTRVSTA is an interview and screening layer that works alongside your ATS (Lever and others), and most teams are set up within a few days. If you need a long list of native connectors, HireVue says it works with 45+ ATS.
