HireVue alternatives: 6 options worth a look in 2026

Live AI interviewers, enterprise suites, coding tools and one-way video, sorted by what you actually need from HireVue.

Full disclosure: we make NTRVSTA, and it's one of the HireVue alternatives on this list. Everything we say about other vendors comes from their own sites and announcements, linked at the bottom.

Teams research HireVue alternatives and HireVue competitors for a handful of structural reasons. HireVue doesn't publish pricing, so every budget starts with a sales call. Its AI Interviewer, launched in June 2026, is a two-way voice conversation, and some teams want candidates to see an interviewer on screen. Others only use one slice of HireVue's broad platform, such as one-way video or a technical screen, and want a tool built for that slice. If you depend on HireVue's mix of AI screening, video interviews and validated assessments, plus its long compliance list, staying may be the smarter move. We cover that case near the end.

1. NTRVSTA (us)

If the part of HireVue you care about is the AI interview itself, NTRVSTA is the most direct swap on this list. Our interviewer talks with each candidate in real time, as a video avatar or as audio only, and makes questions harder or easier depending on how the candidate is doing. One product covers engineers and non-technical hires: the exam library spans programming languages, frameworks like React and Node.js, and soft skills, with STAR behavioral questions and an interactive whiteboard for system design.

Each report includes a score breakdown (technical skills, English proficiency, communication) and video snippets of key moments, and AI resume scoring ranks every applicant against the job description. Our plans are listed on the pricing section, and our NYC Local Law 144 bias audit, run by Asenion and finalized October 20, 2026, is on our compliance page. Where we fall short of HireVue: we don't replace your ATS, our native ATS list (Lever and others) is shorter, there's no public API yet, and we have fewer published enterprise case studies. The full NTRVSTA vs HireVue comparison goes row by row.

Best for: teams that want candidates to meet a live, adaptive interviewer for any role, with prices they can see before a demo.

2. Eightfold AI Interviewer

Eightfold says its AI Interviewer runs adaptive, conversational interviews 24/7 by video, audio or text. It covers screening, STAR functional questions, coding, soft skills and CEFR language checks, which Eightfold says can be combined into one "360 Interview." It says the interviewer judges only the content of answers, not facial expressions, tone or accent. A digital-human "Avatar" persona was announced in July 2026.

On compliance paperwork, Eightfold is the closest match to HireVue here. It lists SOC 2 Type II, FedRAMP Moderate and ISO/IEC 42001, and says it was independently bias-audited under NYC Local Law 144 with published results. The interviewer is sold within Eightfold's Talent Intelligence Platform, and pricing isn't published. Eightfold also faces an FCRA class action (Kistler v. Eightfold AI, filed January 2026) over candidate match scores, not the interviewer.

Best for: large enterprises, including Oracle shops and government buyers, that want an AI interviewer inside a bigger talent suite.

3. CodeSignal

CodeSignal started in coding assessments and now sells an AI Interviewer that candidates speak with by phone or browser on their own schedule. CodeSignal says it asks follow-up questions when answers are thin and returns a score, skills evaluation and transcript, with a person making the decision. Prebuilt interviewers cover sales, finance, marketing, accounting, recruiting, BDR and product roles.

The appeal for a HireVue customer is price clarity. CodeSignal's Build plan starts at $79/mo billed annually and Grow at $479/mo billed annually, with extra credits at $20 each. It doesn't describe a video avatar.

Best for: teams that want low-cost, self-serve AI interviews for engineering and go-to-market roles next to proven coding tests.

4. Interviewer.AI

Interviewer.AI builds an interview from a job description and sends candidates a link to finish on their own schedule. Its Essential plan ($199/mo) is AI-scored one-way video with resume screening. The Professional plan ($399/mo) adds what the company calls conversational, avatar-led interviews with dynamic follow-ups and fraud checks.

ATS integrations sit on the custom Enterprise plan, and there's a 14-day free trial on paid plans. It's a lighter, self-serve option than HireVue.

Best for: SMB and mid-market teams, especially in APAC, the UK and ANZ, that want inexpensive AI video and avatar screening.

5. Talview (Ivy)

Talview says Ivy is a human-like AI video interviewer with multilingual, brand-aligned personas that asks contextual follow-ups and scores answers in real time. Talview pairs it with AI proctoring, identity verification and live interview rooms with deepfake detection, and much of its customer base is assessment and exam bodies.

Pricing is custom and unit-based, with a minimum of roughly 150 to 200 candidates, per Talview. It lists SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001.

Best for: enterprises and certification bodies where proctoring and identity checks matter as much as the interview.

6. Spark Hire

Some HireVue customers mainly use one-way video. Spark Hire covers that need with recorded video interviews that, per Spark Hire, get AI summaries, scoring against key factors and transcription in 50+ languages. It now leads with an ATS for small and medium organizations and says it connects to 100+ providers.

Video interviews start at $249/mo billed annually or $299/mo monthly. There's no AI interviewer, so candidates still record answers to fixed prompts.

Best for: small teams that want a simple, affordable one-way video tool or a starter ATS.

When to stay with HireVue

HireVue is still the right home for plenty of teams. Stay if you want one vendor for AI voice screening, one-way and live video, game-based assessments and skills tests. Stay if your security review asks for documents HireVue lists, such as SOC 2 Type 2, ISO/IEC 27001 or FedRAMP. And stay if you need its breadth of connections (HireVue says it enriches 45+ ATS) or want a vendor with named references like IKEA and Nestlé. Switching tools has a real cost, so make sure the gap you're solving is bigger than that cost.

For live AI interviews, the closest HireVue competitors are NTRVSTA, Eightfold, CodeSignal and Talview. For one-way video, Spark Hire and Interviewer.AI's Essential plan are simpler options. Which one fits depends on whether you need the AI interview, video recording, or assessments.

Which HireVue alternatives publish their pricing?

On this list, NTRVSTA, CodeSignal, Interviewer.AI and Spark Hire publish prices. Eightfold and Talview, like HireVue, ask you to contact sales.
