NTRVSTA vs Ribbon AI: two live AI interviewers, compared

Both run live, adaptive AI interviews. They aim at different hires, and Ribbon's owner may soon change.

Full disclosure: NTRVSTA is the author of this page and one of the two tools it compares. For Ribbon AI we stuck to Ribbon's own website and Dayforce's acquisition announcement, both linked in Sources, so you can check every claim.

The short answer

Ribbon and NTRVSTA are true peers: both run live, two-way AI interviews that adapt to what the candidate says. Choose Ribbon if you hire frontline roles at volume, want 60+ ATS connections, and like the idea of a 7-day self-serve trial, keeping in mind that Dayforce announced a deal to buy Ribbon on October 23, 2026. Choose NTRVSTA if your roles lean technical or professional and you want coding exams, system-design whiteboards, a choice of avatar or audio, and published prices.

How NTRVSTA works

Every NTRVSTA interview is a live exchange between the candidate and an AI interviewer, which you set up as a video avatar or as audio only. It runs around the clock. As the candidate answers, the interviewer decides what comes next and how hard it should be, so you learn both what they know and where it runs out.

Where NTRVSTA goes deep is role content. The exam library spans programming languages (Java, Python, C++, JavaScript and more), frameworks and tools from React to DevOps, AI/ML, and soft skills such as leadership. System-design interviews use an interactive whiteboard, behavioral questions follow STAR, and optional hints show how a candidate takes guidance. Results arrive as a breakdown of technical skills, English proficiency and communication, with short video clips and a shareable report. AI resume scoring sits in front of all this, ranking applicants against the job description.

How Ribbon works

Ribbon says its AI interviewer runs live, two-way voice or video interviews that adapt to candidate answers, available 24/7 on any phone. It scores answers against custom rubrics, ranks applicants, and monitors for off-screen activity, with live captions and recordings. Beyond the interview, Ribbon does sourcing, rediscovers past candidates, and reaches out by SMS, WhatsApp and email. It says it supports 10 languages and 60+ ATS, naming Greenhouse, Workday, Ashby, UKG, Bullhorn and Paycom among them.

On October 23, 2026, Dayforce announced a definitive agreement to acquire Ribbon AI Inc., based in Toronto. Terms and timing weren't disclosed, and the deal had not closed as of October 27, 2026. Dayforce says it plans to fold Ribbon into "Dayforce Agentic Recruiting." Ribbon's site is still live and links to the announcement.

Ribbon says it has an NYC Local Law 144 bias audit, last done in 2025, and links the report. Its site describes its SOC 2 status two ways: one section says Type I with Type II in observation, while the FAQ says Type II compliant. It also lists GDPR, SSO through Google Workspace, Okta and Azure AD, and a 99.99% uptime claim. Named customers include Extra Space Storage, Vertiv and Opencare.

When Ribbon is the better choice

  • You hire warehouse, retail, hospitality or healthcare staff in large numbers and want candidates to interview from any phone.
  • You need outreach and rediscovery by SMS, WhatsApp and email next to the interview.
  • You want a wide ATS list. Ribbon says 60+, including UKG, Paycom and BambooHR.
  • You use Dayforce and like the idea of the interviewer becoming part of Dayforce Agentic Recruiting once the deal closes.

Some honest limits on our side. NTRVSTA covers screening and the interview, not the rest of the ATS job, and our native connector list is short. There's no public API yet. We're not set up for SMS-apply and chat-scheduling hourly flows, so frontline-heavy teams may find Paradox or Fountain a better match too. If you want people, not AI, to conduct interviews, Karat-style services are the fit. We're also newer and smaller, with fewer enterprise case studies in public.

Pricing compared

Ribbon doesn't publish plan prices. Its site promotes a 7-day free trial ("Start for free"), and its pricing URL returned a 404 when we checked on October 27, 2026.

NTRVSTA uses public, credit-based plans you can model on our pricing calculator. An audio minute costs 1 credit and an avatar minute costs 3. Here are the tiers:

  • Free Demo at $0, with 50 credits.
  • Starter at $299/mo, with 1,500 credits, enough for about 30 interviews.
  • Growth at $699/mo, with 4,000 credits, about 80 interviews.
  • Scale at $1,999/mo, with 12,500 credits, about 250 interviews and an SLA.
  • Enterprise at a custom price, with SSO/SAML, a dedicated CSM and on-prem.

Growth comes to about $8.74 per interview at 80 a month, or $0.35 a minute. Keep interviews short and in audio and the math improves: 25 minutes of audio is 25 credits, while 25 minutes with an avatar is 75.

Who should pick which

  • If most of your openings are hourly frontline roles, pick Ribbon.
  • If you're hiring backend engineers and product analysts, pick NTRVSTA.
  • If you run Dayforce and want to wait for the combined product, pick Ribbon.
  • If you'd rather not change vendors mid-acquisition, pick NTRVSTA.
  • If you want candidates to see a branded avatar instead of hearing a voice, pick NTRVSTA.
