Fountain hiring vs NTRVSTA: frontline platform or AI interviewer?

Fountain runs the whole frontline hiring stack with a voice AI interviewer inside. NTRVSTA runs deeper interviews for other kinds of roles.

Disclosure: this comparison was written by NTRVSTA, one of the two companies in it. Everything about Fountain hiring and its voice interviewer, Anna, comes from Fountain's website, its support articles and its ADP Marketplace listing, linked under Sources.

The short answer

Fountain and NTRVSTA both run real-time AI interviews, but they're built for very different hires. Fountain is a full frontline hiring platform, with an ATS, CRM, sourcing, onboarding and shift scheduling, and its voice AI interviewer Anna runs short structured screens by phone or browser. Choose Fountain if you hire hourly workers at volume in QSR, logistics or gig work and want one system for all of it. Choose NTRVSTA if you're hiring technical, professional or salaried roles and need a longer adaptive interview, as an avatar or audio, that sits beside your existing ATS.

How NTRVSTA works

NTRVSTA handles one part of hiring well: the first real interview. It starts by scoring every resume against the job description, so recruiters know who to invite. Candidates then take a live interview whenever they're free, with an AI interviewer that's either a video avatar or a voice. Instead of running a fixed script, it adjusts the next question, and its difficulty, to the answer it just heard.

Those interviews can go deep. A backend role might include Java or Python exams and a system-design problem on an interactive whiteboard. A customer success role might focus on STAR behavioral questions and communication. Hints show how candidates respond to guidance. The report scores technical skills, English proficiency and communication, adds video snippets, and can be shared with the hiring manager. Most teams are set up in a few days, and your ATS stays in place.

How Fountain works

Fountain describes itself as a frontline hiring platform, now positioned as "Frontline Superintelligence." It covers the ATS, CRM, sourcing, onboarding and shift scheduling, coordinated by an orchestrator agent called Cue. The legal company name is Onboard IQ, and we found no acquisition.

Anna, the voice AI interviewer that Fountain previously called "AI Recruiter," runs structured interviews by phone or in a browser. Per Fountain's support FAQ, Anna "asks clarifying questions and adapts to candidate responses by default," and interviews run about five minutes. Each one returns a score, a summary, a transcript and a recording for a person to review. You set the interview language per job, though the supported list isn't published. Fountain also offers one-way video and scheduled live interviews, and sells Anna on its own through the ADP Marketplace.

Fountain says it's SOC 2 compliant, logs decisions, includes human approval controls, and is built on Anthropic model infrastructure, with data not kept by model providers for training. Its FAQ says a sample of interviewees may be asked demographic questions for fairness and regulatory audits, but we didn't find a published NYC Local Law 144 audit. Named customers include Bojangles, LSG Sky Chefs, Stitch Fix and Fetch.

When Fountain is the better choice

  • You hire thousands of hourly workers and want apply, screening, scheduling and onboarding in one platform.
  • A five-minute voice screen by phone is the right depth for your roles.
  • You want shift scheduling and onboarding handled by the same vendor as the interview.
  • You use ADP and want to add Anna through the ADP Marketplace.

Fountain is one of the tools we point to when NTRVSTA isn't the right fit, and here's the rest of that list. We don't replace your ATS, and we connect natively to fewer systems than the big suites. Our public API is coming but not live. High-volume hourly hiring with SMS apply and chat scheduling suits Fountain or Paradox better than us. For interviews run by human engineers, a Karat-style service fits. And we're newer and smaller, with fewer published enterprise case studies.

Pricing compared

Fountain doesn't publish pricing for its platform or for Anna. Plan on a sales conversation and a quote.

NTRVSTA's plans are listed publicly in our pricing section. Credits are spent per interview minute: 1 for audio and 3 for an avatar. The Free Demo costs $0 and includes 50 credits. Starter costs $299/mo for 1,500 credits, roughly 30 interviews. Growth costs $699/mo for 4,000 credits, roughly 80. Scale costs $1,999/mo for 12,500 credits, roughly 250, with an SLA. Enterprise is custom, with SSO/SAML, a dedicated CSM and on-prem.

The worked example on our site: Growth at 80 interviews a month is about $8.74 each, or $0.35 per minute. A 25-minute audio interview takes 25 credits, and an avatar interview of the same length takes 75. For short hourly screens, compare that per-minute model against Fountain's quote carefully, since a five-minute screen and a 25-minute interview aren't the same thing.

Who should pick which

  • If you're staffing restaurants, warehouses or delivery fleets, pick Fountain.
  • If you're hiring software engineers or analysts, pick NTRVSTA.
  • If you want one vendor for the ATS, scheduling and onboarding, pick Fountain.
  • If you're happy with your ATS and want to add a deeper interview step, pick NTRVSTA.
  • If you hire both hourly crews and corporate staff, consider Fountain for the frontline and NTRVSTA for corporate roles.
