NTRVSTA wrote this CoderPad comparison and is one of the two products in it. We think the two tools often work best together, and we say so below. Facts about CoderPad come from CoderPad's own pages, listed under Sources.
The short answer
CoderPad is a technical assessment platform best known for its live coding pad, where your engineers interview candidates in a shared editor. It also sells Screen (async coding tests) and Qualify (recorded video answers scored by AI). NTRVSTA is a live AI interviewer that adapts as candidates answer, for technical and non-technical roles. Choose CoderPad if you want your engineers to run hands-on coding interviews in a realistic environment. Choose NTRVSTA if you want an AI to hold the first-round conversation for you, then hand the strongest candidates to your team.
Side by side: CoderPad vs NTRVSTA
How NTRVSTA works
Think of NTRVSTA as the round before the coding pad. A candidate starts the interview whenever they're free, at any hour, and an AI interviewer (video avatar or audio) talks them through it. It asks, listens, and adjusts. A candidate who explains a hash map well gets pushed on trade-offs; one who struggles gets a simpler question. That gives your engineers a ranked, scored shortlist before they open a pad.
The exam library covers Java, Python, C++, JavaScript and more, frameworks such as React, Angular and Node.js, and AI/ML and DevOps tools. System-design interviews come with an interactive whiteboard. Soft skills and behavioral questions (built on STAR) are covered too, so the same tool can screen your product managers and support leads. A hint system shows how candidates take guidance.
After each interview you get a score breakdown (technical skills, English proficiency, communication), video snippets and a shareable report. AI resume scoring ranks every applicant against the job description. NTRVSTA works with your ATS (Lever and others) and most teams are running in a few days.
How CoderPad works
CoderPad sells three products. Interview is its live collaborative coding environment, where your interviewer and the candidate work in the same editor, with playback afterward. Screen is a set of multi-file coding assessments candidates take on their own. Qualify is a video pre-screen: candidates record answers to set questions, and CoderPad says an AI reviewer scores them against your rubric to produce a ranked shortlist.
On higher plans, CoderPad adds AI assistants inside the pad, including Claude Code and Codex, so interviewers can see the candidate's prompts and edits. CoderPad calls these "agentic interviews" on its Frontier plans; a human interviewer still runs them. It lists webcam proctoring, cheating alerts and SSO/SAML on Enterprise, and SOC 2 Type 2 audited by Insight Assurance.
CoderPad is independent. It acquired CodinGame and AdaptiLab's hiring product in 2021. Customers it names include Box, monday.com and McAfee.
When CoderPad is the better choice
- You want your own engineers to run live, hands-on coding sessions with a candidate in a real editor.
- You want to see how candidates work with AI coding agents like Claude Code or Codex during an interview, which CoderPad's Frontier plans describe.
- You need take-home or async coding tests across a very wide range of languages (CoderPad says 65+ for Screen).
- Your interview volume is low and steady, and CoderPad's Starter plan covers it.
Where NTRVSTA is the wrong tool: we don't provide a shared live coding editor for your engineers. We're also not an ATS, our native integrations are fewer than larger platforms list, and our public API hasn't launched yet. If you need human interviewers supplied to you, Karat fits better. Hourly, high-volume hiring with SMS apply suits Paradox or Fountain. And we're a newer company with fewer published enterprise case studies.
Pricing compared
CoderPad publishes its plans. Starter is $80/mo billed annually or $120/mo monthly, for 60 interviews a year or 5 a month. Team is $400/mo annually or $500/mo monthly, for 360 a year or 30 a month, with take-homes and auto-scored screens. Frontier Lite is $1,000/mo, annual only, for 360 a year, adding Claude Code and Codex in the pad and AI summaries. Enterprise is custom, and CoderPad lists $30 per extra test or interview.
NTRVSTA's pricing is on our pricing section. Interview minutes use credits, 1 per minute for audio and 3 for an avatar:
- Free Demo: $0, 50 credits.
- Starter: $299/mo, 1,500 credits (about 30 interviews).
- Growth: $699/mo, 4,000 credits (about 80 interviews).
- Scale: $1,999/mo, 12,500 credits (about 250 interviews), with an SLA.
- Enterprise: custom, with SSO/SAML, a dedicated CSM and on-prem available.
On Growth, 80 interviews a month is about $8.74 each, or $0.35 a minute. Keep in mind that a CoderPad interview still needs one of your engineers in the room for the live pad, while an NTRVSTA interview doesn't need anyone from your team. Our pricing guide shows how to count that time.
Who should pick which
- If you want a shared editor for live pair-programming interviews, pick CoderPad.
- If your engineers are spending hours on first-round screens that mostly end in a no, pick NTRVSTA.
- If you also hire non-technical roles and want one interview tool for all of them, pick NTRVSTA.
- If you want to watch candidates use AI coding agents in a real project, pick CoderPad.
- If you want both, run NTRVSTA as round one and CoderPad for the live coding round.

Questions
Does CoderPad have an AI interviewer?
Not a live one. CoderPad's Qualify product has candidates record video answers to set questions, which an AI reviewer then scores. Its live interviews are run by your engineers, with optional AI coding assistants in the pad. NTRVSTA's AI interviewer runs a real-time conversation and adapts to each answer.
How much does CoderPad cost?
Per CoderPad's pricing page, Starter is $80/mo billed annually, Team is $400/mo billed annually, and Frontier Lite is $1,000/mo, annual only. Enterprise is custom, and extra tests or interviews are $30 each.
Can I use NTRVSTA and CoderPad together?
Yes. A common setup is an NTRVSTA AI interview as the first round, then a live CoderPad session with one of your engineers for the candidates who score well.
Which is better for system design interviews?
NTRVSTA's system-design interviews include an interactive whiteboard and are run by the AI interviewer. CoderPad's pages we checked focus on coding environments run by your interviewers, so in that tool your own engineer would lead the design discussion.
See what an AI first round would hand your engineers: book a 20-minute demo, or run a sample technical interview on yourself. Our bias audit is on the compliance page.
