NTRVSTA wrote this HireVue vs VidCruiter comparison. We make a competing product, so we only use facts from HireVue's and VidCruiter's own sites and public news, and we include a third option at the end.
HireVue vs VidCruiter is a comparison between two of the oldest names in video interviewing. Both sell one-way and live video, scheduling and assessments to large, process-heavy employers. The real split in 2026 is AI: HireVue now runs a voice AI interview on its own, while VidCruiter lists that capability as coming soon and keeps people in the interviewer's seat.
The short answer
Choose HireVue if you want an AI to conduct the first-round conversation today, alongside game-based assessments and a long compliance record. Choose VidCruiter if your interviews are run by people and you want strong structure around them: interview guides, panel video, self-scheduling, reference checks, skills tests and its own ATS. Public-sector and bilingual English and French employers will find VidCruiter's focus useful. Neither vendor publishes pricing.
Side by side: HireVue vs VidCruiter
Where HireVue is stronger
HireVue has shipped what VidCruiter is still building. Its AI Interviewer, launched in June 2026, turns a job description into questions and a rubric, then talks with candidates by voice around the clock, asking follow-ups when an answer needs more depth. It evaluates each answer against the role criteria, gives its reasoning, and sends results to the ATS, with people making the final call. HireVue lists English, Spanish, French and Portuguese for the AI Interviewer, with more regional variants.
HireVue's assessment range is also broader. Game-based assessments, an Assessment Builder and CodeVue coding challenges let you combine interview and test data in one vendor. Its compliance file adds FedRAMP, which matters for some government-adjacent buyers, and it says its fairness audits cover NYC Local Law 144.
Where VidCruiter is stronger
VidCruiter is built for organizations that want humans conducting consistent, well-documented interviews. It auto-builds structured interview guides, runs live panel video over Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet or GoTo, and lets candidates book their own slot from interviewers' synced calendars. Its AI writes notes, summaries and transcripts in English and French, and scores pre-recorded responses against rubrics.
It also covers the steps around the interview. Automated reference checks, skills testing, proctoring, virtual hiring events and its own ATS mean a team can run a full process without stitching tools together. VidCruiter names integrations with Workday, Dayforce, SAP, Oracle, ADP and UKG, and lists ISO 27017 and 27018, PIPEDA and a VPAT on top of SOC 2 Type II. Customers it names include Samsung, UPS, Lindt and Elections BC.
Some buyers will also prefer VidCruiter's stated stance that its AI is assistive, not autonomous, while they work out their own AI policy.
Pricing compared
Neither company lists a price. HireVue's pricing page offers a demo and an ROI calculator, and says the platform is free for candidates. VidCruiter's pricing page asks you to fill out a form for a quote and lists the modules that quote can cover: pre-recorded and live video interviews, scheduling, skills testing and an applicant tracking system. Neither says whether it charges per user, per module or per hire, so ask.

Questions
Does VidCruiter have an AI interviewer?
Not yet. VidCruiter's site lists an AI Interviewer as coming soon and describes its current AI as assistive, not autonomous. Which is better for structured live interviews run by people?
Both support them. VidCruiter is built around structured interview guides, panel video interviews, self-booking from synced calendars and AI notes in English and French. HireVue offers live video with a co-pilot for Zoom and Microsoft Teams. If people still run most rounds, VidCruiter's guides and logistics tools are its center of gravity.
