HireVue vs Talview (2026): Features, Pricing and Which to Pick

Both sell an AI interviewer that asks follow-up questions. HireVue wraps it in assessments; Talview wraps it in proctoring and identity checks.

NTRVSTA wrote this HireVue vs Talview comparison. We make a competing product, so we only use facts from HireVue's and Talview's own sites and public news, and we include a third option at the end.

HireVue vs Talview is one of the closer matchups in AI interviewing, because both companies now sell an AI agent that runs the interview and asks follow-up questions on its own. The differences are in format and in what surrounds the interview. HireVue's agent speaks by voice and sits inside an assessment platform. Talview's Ivy appears on video and sits inside a proctoring and identity business that also serves exam and certification bodies.

The short answer

Choose HireVue if you want a voice AI interview backed by game-based assessments, skills tests and a detailed fairness record, including audits it says cover NYC Local Law 144. Choose Talview if exam-grade integrity matters as much as the interview: Ivy video interviews plus human and automated proctoring, identity verification and deepfake detection, bought on unit-based terms. Talview is also a natural fit for SAP SuccessFactors shops, since it is listed as an SAP partner.

Where HireVue is stronger

HireVue's advantage is breadth of assessment and depth of fairness documentation. Next to the AI Interviewer it offers game-based assessments, an Assessment Builder, CodeVue coding challenges and video-based situational questions, so one vendor can cover several stages. Its interviewer turns a job description into questions and a rubric, scores each spoken answer against it and explains the result.

On the governance side, HireVue lists adverse-impact checks using the four-fifths rule, an AI Explainability Statement, annual independent audits and fairness audits it says cover NYC LL144, with DCI Consulting Group as external auditor. Talview doesn't publish a bias audit. For a US employer hiring in New York City, that difference can decide the shortlist.

Where Talview is stronger

Talview is the stronger choice when you must be sure who is on the other side of the screen. Its live proctoring uses certified human proctors watching webcam, screen and audio, with a secondary camera, multi-factor ID checks and a 360-degree room scan. Automated proctoring flags behavior such as leaving the test screen, and Verity adds deepfake detection, credential checks and resume integrity checks. Talview says Ivy never poses as a human recruiter and that a person makes the final call.

Ivy also covers formats HireVue doesn't sell in the same way: a video interviewer with brand-aligned personas, short outbound audio calls, and live rooms for code jams and whiteboarding. Talview names Cambridge Assessment, PwC, NVIDIA and Shopify among its customers, and its buying model is flexible: unit-based pricing, Azure credits accepted and an SAP SuccessFactors partner listing.

Pricing compared

HireVue shows no prices or plan names on its pricing page, only a demo request and an ROI calculator. Talview doesn't list prices either, but it does explain its model: custom, unit-based pricing where you pay per feature unit (interviews, proctoring and so on), with a minimum commitment of about 150 to 200 candidates. It accepts Azure credits, which can matter if your company has a Microsoft commitment to spend down. Pilots above 10 candidates may be charged.

Who should pick which

  • If you hire in New York City and want a vendor that says its audits cover LL144, pick HireVue.
  • If identity fraud or proxy test-takers are a real risk in your hiring, pick Talview.
  • If you want a candidate to see a video persona rather than hear a voice, pick Talview.
  • If you want game-based and skills assessments from the same vendor, pick HireVue.
  • If you buy through Azure Marketplace or the SAP partner ecosystem, Talview fits that route.

A third option: NTRVSTA

If proctoring and identity verification are the core requirement, Talview is built for that and we don't sell it. Where Carolina, our agentic AI recruiter, differs from both is scope: it works the whole requisition inside your ATS, not only the interview step.

  • Sources candidates and runs outreach by email, SMS and WhatsApp.
  • Ranks every resume against the job, with the reasoning shown.
  • Runs live AI interviews by video avatar or audio, adapting difficulty to each answer, for technical and non-technical roles.
  • Publishes its prices, from a free Starter plan, on the pricing section, and its LL144 interview audit on /compliance.

Questions

What is Talview Ivy?

Ivy is Talview's AI interviewer. Talview describes it as a human-like AI video interview agent with multilingual, brand-aligned personas that asks contextual follow-up questions and evaluates responses in real time. Talview also runs Ivy audio calls, which it says usually last about 5 to 10 minutes.

Is HireVue's AI Interviewer video or voice?

Voice. HireVue describes a 24/7, two-way voice conversation with probing follow-ups, launched in June 2026. HireVue also sells one-way video, live video with a co-pilot and game-based assessments as separate parts of its platform.

Does Talview publish pricing?

Not as a price list. Talview's pricing page describes custom, unit-based pricing where you pay per feature unit, with a minimum commitment of roughly 150 to 200 candidates. It accepts Azure credits, and says pilots may be charged above 10 candidates. HireVue doesn't publish pricing either.

Which one has a bias audit?

HireVue says its fairness audits cover NYC Local Law 144 and names DCI Consulting Group as an external auditor. Talview does not publish a bias audit on the pages we checked, though it lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and WCAG 2.1.
