HireVue vs Spark Hire (2026): Features, Pricing and Which to Pick

One sells a voice AI interviewer and validated assessments to large employers. The other sells small teams an ATS and one-way video at a listed price.

NTRVSTA wrote this HireVue vs Spark Hire comparison. We make a competing product, so we only use facts from HireVue's and Spark Hire's own sites and public news, and we include a third option at the end.

Searching HireVue vs Spark Hire usually means you need video in your hiring process and are trying to work out how much platform you actually need. These two sit at opposite ends of that question. HireVue is a large, compliance-heavy interviewing and assessment suite. Spark Hire is a small-business ATS that also sells one-way video interviews on their own.

The short answer

Pick HireVue if you hire at enterprise scale, want a two-way voice AI interviewer plus game-based and skills assessments, and need detailed fairness and security documentation for procurement. Pick Spark Hire if you are a small or mid-size employer that wants recorded video interviews with AI summaries at a listed monthly price, or a full ATS with video built in. HireVue publishes no prices. Spark Hire publishes starting prices for every plan except Enterprise.

Where HireVue is stronger

The biggest structural gap is the interview itself. HireVue's AI Interviewer drafts questions and a rubric from your job description, then talks with the candidate by voice, any time of day, asking probing follow-ups when an answer is thin. It scores each answer against the role criteria, explains its reasoning and writes the result to your ATS. Spark Hire has nothing equivalent: its candidates record answers to fixed prompts.

HireVue also covers more kinds of evidence in one place. Game-based assessments, an Assessment Builder for skills tests, CodeVue coding challenges and video-based situational questions all sit next to the interview. For large employers that want to defend a selection process, HireVue lists SOC 2 Type 2, ISO/IEC 27001, FedRAMP, adverse-impact checks under the four-fifths rule and an AI Explainability Statement. Published customers include IKEA, Nestlé and AdventHealth.

Where Spark Hire is stronger

Spark Hire is easier to buy. Its pricing page lists numbers, so a hiring manager can budget without a sales cycle. The annual video plan includes unlimited jobs and users, and its AI auto-summarizes each recording, scores submissions against key factors and transcribes in 50+ languages.

It is also an applicant tracking system, which HireVue is not. A small company that has been running hiring out of email can buy Recruit Pro and get job posting, AI resume review (6,000 a year on Pro), AI-suggested screening questions and video interviews in one place. Recruit Growth adds the behavioral assessment and automated panel scheduling. An AI notetaker add-on is available on every tier.

Pricing compared

HireVue's pricing page shows no numbers, plan names or trial. It points buyers to a demo and an ROI calculator, and notes that HireVue is free for candidates. Expect a custom quote shaped by your volume and the modules you pick. Our HireVue pricing guide lists the questions worth asking.

Spark Hire lists these starting prices (see our Spark Hire pricing breakdown):

  • Video Interviews: from $299 a month billed monthly (up to 5 jobs and 5 users), or from $249 a month billed annually with unlimited jobs and users.
  • Behavioral Assessment: from $299 a month monthly or $249 a month annual.
  • Recruit Pro (ATS): from $335 a month, annual contract, for companies up to 200 employees.
  • Recruit Growth (ATS): from $499 a month, annual contract, for up to 500 employees.
  • Recruit Enterprise: custom.

Spark Hire notes that its Recruit starting prices apply to companies with up to 50 employees and rise with headcount, so get a quote for your exact size.

Who should pick which

  • If you run thousands of applicants a year and want an AI that actually converses with them, pick HireVue.
  • If you need a working ATS and video interviews for under a few hundred employees, pick Spark Hire.
  • If legal or procurement will ask for FedRAMP, ISO 27001 or a documented LL144 fairness audit, pick HireVue.
  • If you want to start this month with a credit card and a listed price, pick Spark Hire.
  • If your process mixes interviews with games, skills tests and coding challenges, pick HireVue.

A third option: NTRVSTA

If the reason you are comparing these two is a growing pipeline you can't screen fast enough, Carolina, our agentic AI recruiter, works inside the ATS you already have and handles more of the req than either one. If you just need recorded video for a handful of roles, Spark Hire's video plan is the simpler buy, and we'd say so.

  • Sources candidates and reaches them by email, SMS and WhatsApp.
  • Ranks every resume against the job and explains the ranking.
  • Runs live AI interviews by video avatar or audio that adapt to each answer, with an NYC LL144 audit covering those interviews on our compliance page.
  • Public plans: Starter $0, Team $490/mo billed annually, Scale $1,490/mo billed annually (details).

Questions

Is Spark Hire cheaper than HireVue?

We can't compare totals, because HireVue doesn't publish prices. Spark Hire lists its video interview product from $249 a month on annual billing or $299 month to month, and its ATS plans from $335 and $499 a month on annual contracts. HireVue sells through a demo and a quote.

Does Spark Hire have an AI interviewer like HireVue's?

No. Spark Hire's video product is one-way: candidates record answers, and Spark Hire's AI summarizes and scores the recordings. HireVue's AI Interviewer, launched in June 2026, holds a two-way voice conversation with probing follow-up questions.

Can Spark Hire replace my ATS?

It can if you are a small or mid-size company. Spark Hire sells Recruit Pro, Recruit Growth and Recruit Enterprise as an ATS with AI resume review and scheduling. HireVue is not an ATS; it says it enriches 45+ ATS platforms instead.

Which one has a bias audit?

HireVue says its fairness audits cover NYC Local Law 144 and that DCI Consulting Group ran external bias audits of its algorithms. Spark Hire does not publish a bias audit on the pages we checked.
