Sense alternatives: 6 AI recruiting competitors for staffing and high-volume teams

Sense is built for engagement at scale on top of your ATS. These tools compete with it on screening, outreach or price model, and here is when to stay.

Full disclosure: this list of Sense alternatives comes from NTRVSTA, and we put ourselves first. Facts about the other five tools come from their own websites and published announcements, which we link under Sources.

Sense (SenseHQ) is a strong engagement layer for staffing firms and high-volume employers: SMS and WhatsApp messaging, a conversational CRM, Voice AI phone screens and scheduling on top of your ATS. People look at Sense alternatives and competitors for a handful of structural reasons. The published starting prices ($3,000 a month for the AI Recruiter, $7,000 a month for the talent acquisition platform) are a big commitment for a small desk. Sense's AI screening runs by phone, so teams wanting video interviews look elsewhere. Others want sourcing beyond rediscovery in their own database, a pay-per-hire model, or a published NYC Local Law 144 audit. If your desk lives on re-engaging an existing talent pool, Sense may still be your best tool.

1. NTRVSTA (us)

NTRVSTA's agent, Carolina, covers a similar span to Sense's AI Recruiter but leans harder on the interview. It sources new candidates for each role and contacts them by email, SMS or WhatsApp, scores every resume with a reason, and runs a live AI interview as a video avatar or by audio that adapts to each answer. That makes it usable for technical and professional roles, not only short frontline screens. Recruiters get a score breakdown, video snippets and a report they can forward to a client or hiring manager, and Carolina books the next interview. Every action has a guardrail of suggest, ask first or auto, and offers or comp changes always wait for a person.

For staffing teams, NTRVSTA connects to Bullhorn, JobDiva, Avionté, Ceipal, Crelate, Loxo, Recruit CRM and TempWorks, among 70 systems. Our interview audit is on the compliance page. What we don't replace: Sense's referral tools, chatbot and engagement analytics. See Sense vs NTRVSTA for the full comparison.

Best for: recruiting teams and agencies that want deeper interviews and fresh sourcing, starting free.

2. HeyMilo

HeyMilo is a natural fit for staffing teams that like Sense's voice screens but also want video. HeyMilo says its AI agents screen candidates through two-way voice and video interviews, plus SMS and forms, around the clock and in 20+ languages, scoring answers against your criteria with written reasoning. It also auto-scores resumes and adds ID verification and cheat flags. Its published ATS list includes Bullhorn, Avionté, JobDiva, Workday and Greenhouse. HeyMilo says it has third-party bias audits without naming LL144, and pricing is not published. Compare in HeyMilo vs NTRVSTA.

Best for: staffing desks that want voice and video AI screening across many ATS.

3. Tenzo

Tenzo's AI recruiter, Morgan, runs 24/7 voice AI interviews by phone or video, reviews resumes, checks for fraud, schedules, and rediscovers past candidates in your ATS, per Tenzo. It says it has 57+ bi-directional ATS integrations and SOC 2 Type 2, and that it strips protected-class information from transcripts before scoring. Pricing is scoped to your volume and roles. See Tenzo vs NTRVSTA.

Best for: agencies and high-volume employers that want rediscovery and screening from one agent.

4. Joveo

Joveo comes at the problem from applicant flow. It started in programmatic job advertising and now calls itself an agentic recruiting platform: job and social ads, AI-built career sites, a talent CRM with email, SMS and WhatsApp campaigns, a chatbot, AI scheduling and an AI Interviewer. Joveo says the interviewer runs on demand by web, phone or WhatsApp, asks follow-ups and writes scores and transcripts back to the ATS. It claims 100+ ATS integrations, including Bullhorn and Avionte. Pricing is custom.

Best for: large employers and staffing firms that need more applicants, not just better engagement.

5. Humanly

Humanly has been building an end-to-end suite through acquisitions, including Teamable in 2024 and three more (Sprockets, Qualifi and HourWork) announced in October 2025. Humanly says it engages frontline applicants by SMS, email, chat and voice, runs structured AI interviews across chat, voice and video, schedules, and hands recruiters a ranked shortlist with transcripts. The suite now spans AI Recruiter, AI Interviewer, AI Notetaker, Talent CRM and an ATS. Pricing is not published. More in Humanly vs NTRVSTA.

Best for: frontline employers that want engagement, screening and an ATS from one vendor.

6. XOR

XOR is the pick if you want to pay per hire instead of per month. For blue-collar and hourly roles, XOR lists its AI Recruiter at $500 per hire with a $5,000 minimum (10 hires) and says it refunds if a role is unfilled after 90 days. Its platform covers text recruiting, AI chatbots, text-to-apply, video interviewing and virtual career fairs, and it says it reaches candidates through digital marketing and referrals rather than job boards. XOR claims 35+ integrations but does not name them on its site.

Best for: hourly and blue-collar hiring on a per-hire budget.

When to stay with Sense

Stay if your value comes from your existing database: a staffing desk with years of candidates in Bullhorn or JobDiva gets a lot from Sense's rediscovery, text and WhatsApp campaigns, and referrals. Sense also bundles a CSM, implementation, three months of hypercare and 24/7 support into its packages, and it lists customers such as Kaiser and ManpowerGroup. If phone screens are enough for your roles, switching adds work for little gain.

Where NTRVSTA isn't the right fit: we are newer and smaller than Sense, with no published case studies yet. We are not an ATS, and we don't publish a proprietary profile database. For very high-volume hourly hiring built on SMS apply and chat scheduling, Paradox, Fountain or Workstream are designed for that.
