Best SMS recruiting software in 2026

Text recruiting tools for hourly hiring, staffing and in-house teams, compared on what happens after the first text and how each one handles screening and booking.

Full disclosure: NTRVSTA wrote this list of SMS recruiting software, and we included our own product at the spot where we think it honestly belongs. Facts about the other tools are from their own pages, linked at the end.

TL;DR

The best SMS recruiting software does more than send a text. It runs the conversation that follows: screening questions, interview booking, reminders and answers to candidate questions, then writes the outcome back to your ATS. For hourly and frontline hiring, text recruiting is often the main channel, and the specialists below were built for it.

  • Best for frontline employers where the whole apply flow runs in a text thread: Paradox
  • Best for staffing firms that want texting plus AI recruiter agents: Sense
  • Best for hourly operators that also want onboarding and payroll: Workstream
  • Best for paying per hire for blue-collar roles: XOR
  • Best for professional roles where text is one channel among several: NTRVSTA (us)

What actually matters when choosing SMS recruiting software

Look past the inbox. Nearly every tool can send a text. What separates them is what happens next: can the candidate apply by text with no login, answer screening questions in the thread, pick an interview time, and get a reminder the day before? For hourly hiring, every extra click or app download loses applicants, so the flow inside the text thread matters more than any dashboard.

Next, think about who is on the other end. Some tools run rule-based scripts. Others run an AI that writes its own replies, answers questions about pay or shifts, and decides when to hand off to a recruiter. Ask to see real transcripts, including a confused candidate and a candidate asking something off-script.

Then get consent right. In the US, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) generally requires a sender to have the recipient's prior express consent before robocalls to wireless numbers, and the FCC's orders use "robocall" to include texts sent with an autodialer, unless an emergency purpose or exemption applies. The FCC has also been revising how people revoke that consent: a draft order circulated for its September 30, 2026 meeting would change how callers handle revocation requests. Ask each vendor how it records consent, handles STOP replies and keeps opt-outs in sync with your ATS. This is not legal advice.

1. Paradox

Paradox's assistant, Olivia, runs candidate conversations over chat and SMS for high-volume and frontline hiring. It handles applications, screening questions, interview scheduling, hiring events, onboarding steps and surveys, and Paradox also sells a conversational ATS and career-site builder. Paradox says Olivia detects more than 100 languages and translates messages automatically.

Workday completed its acquisition of Paradox on October 1, 2025, and Paradox still runs under its own brand. Pricing isn't published. See Paradox vs NTRVSTA for how a text-first assistant compares with an agent built for salaried roles.

Best for: retail, QSR, franchise and healthcare employers where text is the main hiring channel.

2. Sense

Sense built its business on texting candidates and now sells a wider AI recruiting platform on top of the ATS. Its SMS and WhatsApp messaging module starts at $500/mo, and it adds a chatbot, interview scheduling, referrals and AI Recruiter agents that Sense says act within guardrails recruiters set. Its Voice AI runs real-time phone screens with scorecards.

Sense lists Bullhorn, JobDiva, Avionte and Labor Edge for staffing, plus Workday, Greenhouse, iCIMS and SAP SuccessFactors.

Best for: staffing firms and healthcare or high-volume TA teams that text candidates at scale.

3. Workstream

Workstream is an operating platform for hourly teams. Its ATS includes text-to-apply, job posting and interview scheduling, and it adds onboarding, payroll, shift scheduling and labor compliance. Workstream's Voice AI answers applicant calls, runs first-round screens and books interviews, and its Video AI lets applicants record answers that managers review as a highlight reel.

Workstream replaces your ATS rather than sitting on it, and plan prices aren't published. Compare it with us on Workstream vs NTRVSTA.

Best for: multi-location restaurant and retail operators who want hiring through payroll in one place.

4. XOR

XOR says it attracts, pre-screens and schedules candidates into recruiters' calendars automatically, using text recruiting, chatbots, text-to-apply, video interviewing and virtual career fairs. Its AI Recruiter offer is priced per hire: $500 per hire with a $5,000 minimum (10 hires), and XOR says it offers a money-back guarantee for positions left unfilled after 90 days.

XOR says it supports more than 100 languages and has 35+ integrations ready to go. Its separate hiring platform has no published price.

Best for: employers filling blue-collar and hourly roles who prefer paying per hire.

5. Humanly

Humanly reaches high-volume and frontline applicants by SMS, email, chat and voice, then runs structured interviews in chat, voice or video and schedules the next step. It bought Qualifi, Sprockets and HourWork, announced in October 2025, and now sells an AI Recruiter, AI Interviewer, talent CRM and its own ATS.

Humanly lists Workday, Dayforce, UKG, iCIMS, Greenhouse and others. Pricing isn't published.

Best for: frontline employers that want text engagement, screening and scheduling from one supplier.

6. Classet

Classet's AI recruiter, Joy, phones applicants for a first interview using your questions and must-haves, then handles scheduling and follow-ups by text and email. It also runs a 24/7 call-to-apply line. Each call is labeled Strong, Good, Borderline or Weak with quoted evidence, and Classet says humans make every decision and that it runs monthly bias audits with Warden AI.

Pricing is public: Hiring Hub starts at $249/mo billed annually ($349 month to month) with 50 completed interviews, and every account gets 20 free interviews.

Best for: smaller hourly employers in trades, logistics, healthcare or car washes that want a simple phone-plus-text flow.

7. NTRVSTA (us)

NTRVSTA is not a texting platform first, so it sits last here. Carolina, our AI Head of Talent, uses SMS as one outreach channel next to email and WhatsApp, as part of a bigger job: she sources candidates for each open role, scores and ranks every resume with an explanation, runs live AI interviews by video avatar or audio that adapt to each answer, and books interviews and panels on your calendar. Each action can be set to suggest, ask first or auto, and offers and compensation changes always wait for a person.

NTRVSTA connects to your ATS (for example Bullhorn or Greenhouse) and other systems. Starter is $0 for one open role and 10 AI interviews; see our pricing section for Team and Scale.

Where NTRVSTA isn't the right fit: for very high-volume hourly hiring where text-to-apply and chat scheduling are the core flow, Paradox, Fountain or Workstream are built for exactly that. NTRVSTA is also newer and smaller than those vendors, with no published customer case studies yet.

Best for: teams hiring salaried, technical or professional roles who want text as one channel inside an agent that also screens and interviews.

Questions

What is SMS recruiting software?

It lets recruiters and automated assistants reach candidates by text message: inviting them to apply, asking screening questions, booking interviews, sending reminders and answering questions. Many tools now pair texting with AI that runs the conversation on its own.

Do we need consent before texting candidates?

In the US, the TCPA generally requires prior express consent before sending texts with an autodialer to a wireless number, unless an exemption applies, and candidates can revoke that consent. The FCC is still revising its revocation rules. Collect consent at the point of application, honor opt-outs fast, and ask your counsel. This is not legal advice.

Is text recruiting only for hourly jobs?

No, but that is where it started and where most of these tools focus. Staffing firms use text for nearly every role, and in-house teams increasingly use it for reminders and quick replies alongside email.

How much does SMS recruiting software cost?

Sense lists SMS and WhatsApp messaging from $500/mo. Classet starts at $249/mo billed annually for AI phone screens with text follow-up. XOR's AI Recruiter costs $500 per hire with a $5,000 minimum. Paradox, Workstream and Humanly do not publish prices.
