Best recruiting chatbots in 2026

Eight recruitment chatbots compared, from text-based apply assistants to chat interviews and career-site agents, plus why we list our own product only as an honorable mention.

Full disclosure: NTRVSTA wrote this guide to recruiting chatbots. We don't sell a candidate-facing chatbot, so our product appears only as an honorable mention at the end, with the reason. Facts about each vendor come from their own sites, listed under Sources.

TL;DR

The best recruiting chatbots do three things well: answer candidate questions instantly, collect what you need to screen, and book the next step without a recruiter. Paradox is the specialist for high-volume hiring, and several others now pair a recruiting chatbot with AI interviews, texting and scheduling. Pick based on your volume, your channels and whether you want the bot to screen or just route.

  • Best for frontline hiring at scale: Paradox
  • Best for blue-collar roles on a pay-per-hire model: XOR
  • Best for a chat-based structured interview: Sapia.ai
  • Best for a staffing team that wants a chatbot inside a texting platform: Sense
  • Best for a career-site chat agent from an established interviewing vendor: HireVue

What actually matters when choosing a recruiting chatbot

Decide what job you are hiring the bot for. Some recruiting chatbots are front doors: they sit on the career site, answer questions about pay, shifts or benefits, and point people to the right job. Others are workers: they take the application, ask knockout questions, and book an interview, often over SMS. A few run the screening interview itself in chat. The more you want the bot to decide, the more you need to see its scoring and audit it.

Next, test the conversation, not the demo. Ask the bot something it wasn't set up for. Switch languages halfway through. Type a typo-filled answer. A good chatbot recovers, or hands off to a person quickly; a weak one loops. Check what it does when a candidate asks for an accommodation.

Last, check where the data goes. Applications, answers and booked times should land in your ATS automatically. If you hire in New York City and the bot scores or ranks candidates, read our NYC Local Law 144 guide and ask the vendor about bias audits.

1. Paradox

Paradox built Olivia for high-volume hiring. Paradox says Olivia runs candidate conversations over chat and SMS, handling applications, screening questions, interview scheduling, hiring events, onboarding and surveys, and that it detects more than 100 languages with automatic translation. Paradox also sells a conversational ATS, a career-site builder and recorded video interviews.

Workday completed its acquisition of Paradox on October 1, 2025, and Paradox continues under its own brand. Pricing isn't published. See Paradox alternatives for other options.

Best for: retail, QSR, franchise and healthcare employers hiring hourly staff at volume.

2. Humanly

Humanly has grown, partly through acquisitions such as Qualifi and HourWork, into a suite with an AI Recruiter, AI Interviewer, AI Notetaker, talent CRM and ATS. It says it engages applicants by SMS, email, chat and voice, runs structured interviews in chat, voice or video, and returns a ranked shortlist with transcripts.

Pricing isn't published.

Best for: frontline employers that want the chatbot, screening and scheduling from one supplier.

3. XOR

XOR combines AI chatbots, text recruiting, text-to-apply, video interviewing and virtual career fairs. It says the whole attract, pre-screen and schedule flow can run automatically into your recruiters' calendars, and that it works in 100+ languages. For blue-collar and hourly roles, its AI Recruiter is sold at $500 per hire with a $5,000 minimum.

Best for: employers filling blue-collar roles who prefer paying per hire to a subscription.

4. Sapia.ai

Sapia.ai runs a structured interview as a text chat with every candidate. Sapia says it builds each role's interview in a Job Analysis Studio, then gives recruiters scores through a Talent Intelligence Assistant and pushes results into the ATS. It says it has run AI interviews since 2018 and has assessed more than 10 million candidates.

Sapia links an independent bias analysis of its chat interview and lists SOC 2 Type 2. Pricing isn't published.

Best for: high-volume enterprise and retail employers that want every applicant to get a mobile-friendly chat interview.

5. Sense

Sense includes a chatbot inside a wider platform with SMS and WhatsApp messaging, a conversational CRM, scheduling and AI Recruiter agents that act within guardrails recruiters set. It sells mostly to staffing firms and healthcare TA teams, and lists Bullhorn, JobDiva and Avionte among its integrations.

Sense publishes starting prices, from $2,000/mo for its staffing platform.

Best for: staffing teams that want a chatbot that shares a record with their texting and scheduling.

6. Joveo

Joveo's chatbot is one of several agents behind its job-advertising business. Joveo says its platform also runs a talent CRM with email, SMS and WhatsApp campaigns, a scheduling agent and an AI Interviewer that works by web, phone or WhatsApp.

Pricing is custom.

7. HireVue

HireVue sells video interviewing and assessments, and its platform now includes a career-site chat agent it calls Match and Apply. That sits beside HireVue's two-way voice AI Interviewer, one-way and live video interviews, and game-based and skills assessments. HireVue says its fairness audits cover NYC Local Law 144.

Pricing isn't published.

Best for: enterprises already on HireVue that want a career-site chat agent from the same vendor.

8. Glider AI

Glider AI lists a chatbot within its Engage product, next to an AI recruiter and AI voice phone screens, plus ID verification, proctoring, assessments and AI video interviews. It is heavily used by staffing and contingent-workforce firms. Findem announced a definitive agreement to acquire Glider AI on March 19, 2026, and Glider keeps its brand.

Honorable mention: NTRVSTA (us)

NTRVSTA doesn't sell a career-site or SMS chatbot for candidates, so it isn't a ranked pick here. The chat it does offer faces your team: you can ask Carolina, our AI Head of Talent, about any role or candidate in plain English, and she sends a morning digest in Slack or Microsoft Teams. For candidates, Carolina reaches out by email, SMS and WhatsApp, scores every resume with an explanation, and runs a live AI interview by video avatar or audio that adapts to each answer, then books the next round. Each action is set to suggest, ask first or auto.

Where NTRVSTA isn't the right fit: if you want a chatbot to take applications and book interviews by text for hourly roles, Paradox, Fountain or Workstream are built for that. NTRVSTA is also newer and smaller than the vendors above. Plans start at $0 on our pricing section.

Best for: teams that want a real interview instead of a chat screen, and a plain-English pipeline assistant for recruiters.

Our pick

  • Hourly hiring at scale, with chat or SMS apply and scheduling: Paradox, or Humanly if you want an all-in-one alternative.
  • Blue-collar roles where you'd rather pay per hire: XOR.
  • You want the screening interview itself to happen in chat: Sapia.ai.
  • Staffing desk with heavy texting: Sense.
  • You want a chatbot driven by job-ad spend: Joveo.
  • Already a HireVue customer: its Match and Apply chat agent.
  • You want a live interview rather than a chat screen: NTRVSTA, from the honorable mention.

Questions

What is a recruiting chatbot?

A recruiting chatbot is software that talks with candidates by chat or text. It answers questions about jobs, collects applications, asks screening questions and books interviews, usually on a career site or by SMS. Newer ones use AI to write their own replies instead of following a fixed script.

Do candidates actually like recruitment chatbots?

They tend to like fast answers and hate dead ends. A chatbot that replies at 11pm and books an interview is a win. One that loops on the same question, or can't reach a person, costs you applicants. Test yours on your own phone, with awkward questions, before launch.

Is a chatbot the same as an AI interviewer?

No. A chatbot mainly answers questions, collects details and books slots. An AI interviewer runs an actual interview, by text, voice or video, and scores the answers. Sapia.ai runs its interview in chat, which blurs the line, and Paradox, Humanly and Joveo sell both pieces.

Which recruiting chatbots are best for high-volume hiring?

Paradox, Humanly, XOR and Joveo all describe high-volume and frontline hiring as their main use. Sapia.ai targets high-volume enterprise and retail employers with its chat interview.

Do we need to tell candidates they are talking to a bot?

Being upfront is good practice, and some laws on automated hiring tools require notice to candidates. Ask your counsel which rules apply where you hire, and make sure a person is easy to reach. This is not legal advice.

Would a live AI interview give you more signal than a chat screen? Book a demo to compare, or try a sample interview as a candidate.
