Full disclosure: NTRVSTA wrote this guide to WhatsApp recruiting tools, and our product is one of the eight on it. We stuck to what each vendor publishes about WhatsApp and listed every source at the end.
TL;DR
WhatsApp recruiting works best when the tool does real work inside the chat: screening, booking and reminders, not just a first message. Most WhatsApp recruitment tools on this list treat it as one channel next to SMS and email, and a few say they can run interviews in it. Pick based on your market and your hiring volume.
- Best for staffing and high-volume teams that want WhatsApp and SMS from one messaging module: Sense
- Best for employers that want ads, screening and booking across WhatsApp: Joveo
- Best for in-house teams that want an agent to source, reach out on WhatsApp and interview: NTRVSTA (us)
- Best for European recruiting agencies: Leonar
- Best for interview coordination with WhatsApp reminders: GoodTime
The picks at a glance
What actually matters when choosing WhatsApp recruiting tools
Start with what the tool does in the chat. Some only send a WhatsApp message with a link to apply somewhere else. Others keep the candidate in WhatsApp to answer screening questions, pick an interview slot and get reminders. A few vendors say they run the interview itself over WhatsApp. Ask for a test number and go through the flow as a candidate on your own phone.
Second, sort out consent before you message anyone. WhatsApp's Business Messaging Policy says businesses may contact people only after receiving opt-in permission confirming they want messages, and must respect any request to block, discontinue or opt out. In the US, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) separately requires prior express consent for robocalls and autodialed texts to wireless numbers, unless an exemption applies, and the FCC has been revising how people revoke that consent. Put a clear opt-in on your apply form and make sure opt-outs reach your ATS. This is not legal advice.
Third, match the tool to where you hire. In many countries WhatsApp is the messaging app people check first, so it can matter more there than SMS. Check that the vendor supports the languages your candidates speak and that replies land in the same record as your email and SMS history.
1. Sense
Sense sells SMS and WhatsApp messaging as a module that starts at $500/mo, inside a platform that also includes a conversational CRM, chatbot, interview scheduling and referrals. Its AI Recruiter agents handle sourcing from your ATS and CRM, engagement, screening and scheduling within guardrails recruiters set, and its Voice AI runs phone screens.
Sense lists Bullhorn, JobDiva and Avionte for staffing, plus Workday, Greenhouse and SAP SuccessFactors. Read Sense vs NTRVSTA for a closer look.
Best for: staffing firms and high-volume teams that want WhatsApp and SMS under one messaging contract.
2. Joveo
Joveo goes further into WhatsApp than most. It says its talent CRM runs email, SMS and WhatsApp campaigns, its scheduling agent lets candidates book open slots over web, SMS, WhatsApp or chat, and its AI Interviewer runs 24/7 interviews by web, phone or WhatsApp, with scores and transcripts written back to the ATS. All of that sits behind Joveo's programmatic and social job advertising.
Joveo claims 100+ ATS integrations. Pricing is custom.
Best for: large employers and staffing firms that want WhatsApp in every step from job ad to booked interview.
3. NTRVSTA (us)
Carolina, NTRVSTA's AI Head of Talent, uses WhatsApp, SMS and email for outreach on each open role she sources. After candidates reply, she scores and ranks resumes with an explanation, invites shortlisted people to a live AI interview (video avatar or audio, adaptive, in multiple languages, any hour), and books the next round on your calendar. Each action is set to suggest, ask first or auto, and offers and compensation changes always wait for a person.
NTRVSTA connects to your ATS, HRIS and calendar, and posts a morning digest in Slack or Microsoft Teams. Our NYC Local Law 144 bias audit covers the AI interviews. Starter is free for one open role; paid plans are on our pricing section.
Where NTRVSTA isn't the right fit: the interview itself runs by video or audio, not as a WhatsApp chat. NTRVSTA doesn't publish a profile database, so agencies that want deep search may prefer Leonar. It is newer and smaller than most vendors here.
Best for: in-house teams that want WhatsApp outreach to lead straight into screening and interviews inside their current ATS.

4. Leonar
Leonar is an ATS and CRM for recruiting agencies, with WhatsApp Business built in. It says recruiters can search 870M+ profiles across 30+ sources, then run sequences across email, LinkedIn tasks, SMS and WhatsApp into one inbox, with a Sourcing Agent that delivers scored shortlists every day.
The Professional plan is $149/user/mo excluding tax, with a 14-day free trial and no card. Leonar replaces your ATS rather than sitting on it.
Best for: European staffing and search firms that want sourcing and WhatsApp outreach in one workspace.
5. GoodTime
GoodTime is an interview scheduling platform, and its agent Cori sends reminders and follow-ups by email, SMS and WhatsApp while it schedules, reschedules and swaps interviewers. GoodTime says every Cori action is visible and humans can override.
Pricing is based on annual candidate volume and available on request.
Best for: enterprise teams that want WhatsApp reminders on complex interview loops.
6. Ribbon
Ribbon's AI interviewer runs live voice or video interviews that adapt to answers, and Ribbon also sources, rediscovers past candidates and sends outreach by SMS, WhatsApp and email, mainly for frontline roles. It says it supports 10 languages and offers a 7-day free trial.
Dayforce announced a definitive agreement to acquire Ribbon on October 23, 2026; the deal had not closed when last checked.
Best for: frontline hiring teams that want WhatsApp outreach feeding an AI voice or video screen.
7. Tenzo
Tenzo's AI recruiter, Morgan, runs voice AI interviews by phone or video, and Tenzo lists WhatsApp and email among its interview channels. It also does resume review, fraud detection, scheduling and ATS rediscovery, and says a de-biasing layer strips protected-class details from transcripts before scoring. Tenzo says it supports 40+ languages.
Pricing is a custom quote.
Best for: staffing agencies hiring across many languages.
8. Alex
Alex (formerly Apriora) runs first-round AI interviews by phone or video and lists SMS and WhatsApp among its channels. It adds fraud scoring, proctoring and an ID-to-selfie check, then books qualified candidates onto calendars.
Pricing isn't published.
Best for: staffing firms and enterprises worried about candidate fraud.

Questions
Can recruiters message candidates on WhatsApp?
Yes, through a WhatsApp Business account or a recruiting tool that connects to one. WhatsApp's Business Messaging Policy says you need the person's opt-in permission before you message them, and you must respect requests to stop or block.
Is WhatsApp recruitment better than SMS?
It depends on where your candidates are. In places where WhatsApp is the everyday messaging app, candidates may see it before a text, and it supports richer messages. In the US, many hourly candidates still expect SMS. Most tools on this list support both, so you can let candidates choose.
Can an AI interview run inside WhatsApp?
Some vendors say so. Joveo says its AI Interviewer runs by web, phone or WhatsApp, and Tenzo and Alex both list WhatsApp among their interview channels. Others, including NTRVSTA, use WhatsApp to invite and remind candidates and run the interview itself by video or audio.
Do US texting rules apply to WhatsApp?
The TCPA covers robocalls and autodialed texts to phone numbers, and how it applies to an app like WhatsApp is a question for your counsel. WhatsApp's own policy already requires opt-in and honoring opt-outs, so build consent capture into your apply flow either way. This is not legal advice.
