NTRVSTA wrote this Alex vs Ribbon comparison. We make a competing product, so we only use facts from Alex's and Ribbon's own sites and public news, and we include a third option at the end. Alex was called Apriora until its rebrand, and some older articles still use that name.
The short answer
Alex vs Ribbon is a choice between two AI recruiters that hold real-time first-round conversations with candidates. Alex fits staffing firms and enterprises worried about fake or assisted candidates: it scores applications for fraud risk, offers proctoring and a government-ID check, and can book the next round while the candidate is still on the phone. Ribbon fits frontline and high-volume hiring teams that want to start fast with a free trial and like its published LL144 audit, with the caveat that Dayforce has agreed to buy it. If you hire remote knowledge workers, look hard at Alex. If you hire shift workers in bulk, look hard at Ribbon.
Side by side: Alex vs Ribbon
Where Alex is stronger
Alex puts more of its product into checking that the candidate is real and working alone. Its Verify step scores applications for fraud risk across email, phone, LinkedIn and location. During interviews, employers can switch on Proctor, which Alex says flags a second voice, a second person on camera, tab switching, sustained off-screen glances and answers read from elsewhere, with timestamps. Identity asks for a government ID and a live selfie and checks the document, expiry, face and name.
The phone interview is also practical: Alex says it needs no webcam, app or internet connection, handles interruptions, and can book the next round before the candidate hangs up. Its Coordinator then puts qualified people on team calendars. Alex says it does not auto-reject anyone without human input and does not scrape LinkedIn or GitHub to build profiles. Published customers include EY, Upwork, Randstad and Chick-fil-A.
Where Ribbon is stronger
Ribbon is easier to evaluate before you commit. There's a 7-day free trial, and a public practice interview with its AI interviewer, Bonnie, that takes about five minutes. Its help docs are detailed on the candidate side: a consent notice appears before recording starts, an interrupted candidate has an hour to return through the same link, and employers set the retake policy from none to unlimited.
Ribbon also covers more of the outreach job, sending invitations and reminders by email as well as SMS and WhatsApp, and it publishes the ATS names it connects with, including payroll-heavy systems like UKG and Paycom that frontline employers often run. On compliance, it links an NYC LL144 bias audit report (last audited 2025). Alex's pages we checked don't mention LL144.
Pricing compared
Both keep prices private. Alex's pricing page offers a 30-minute demo and no plan list. Ribbon's /pricing page has returned a 404 in our checks, and its homepage refers to plans sized to hiring volume without numbers. The difference is that you can use Ribbon for a week at no cost before talking price. For Ribbon, also ask how pricing and contracts will work once it becomes part of Dayforce.
What we found on each is in Alex pricing and Ribbon pricing.

A third option: NTRVSTA
NTRVSTA is agentic AI for sourcing, recruiting and hiring that runs inside your existing ATS, HRIS and calendar. It overlaps with both tools on AI interviews and scheduling, and it differs on two points buyers ask about: interview difficulty adapts to each answer for technical and non-technical roles, and our prices are public. ID verification and proctoring are not among our published features, so if those are your top need, Alex covers them. Book a demo to see our agent, Carolina, on one of your roles.
- Live AI interviews by video avatar or audio, 24/7, with score breakdowns and video snippets.
- Guardrails per action: suggest, ask first or auto.
- An NYC LL144 audit of the AI interviews, on our compliance page.
- Plans from $0 on the pricing page.

Questions
Is Alex the same company as Apriora?
Yes. Alex operates as Apriora Inc. dba Alex, and apriora.ai redirects to alex.com. In September 2025 Alex announced it had raised $20 million in total, a $17 million Series A led by Peak XV plus a $3 million seed. A separate London recruiting company also uses the name Alex.
Which one is better at catching interview fraud?
Both offer integrity tools. Alex sells Proctor, which watches for tab switching, extra voices and off-screen glances, and Identity, which matches a government ID to a live selfie. Ribbon's Integrity Monitor flags moments such as long lookaways or another person in frame and says a flag is a prompt for review, not proof.
Can I try Alex or Ribbon for free?
Ribbon offers a 7-day free trial and a short public practice interview. Alex does not publish a trial; its pricing page offers a 30-minute demo.
What happens to Ribbon after the Dayforce acquisition?
Dayforce has signed an agreement to acquire Ribbon, announced October 23, 2026, and says Ribbon's technology will be integrated into the Dayforce Agentic Recruiting experience after the transaction closes. No closing date was disclosed, and we found no closing announcement as of November 1, 2026.
Both vendors' sites were checked on November 1, 2026. Ask each to confirm current features and terms.
