Alex AI alternatives (formerly Apriora): six AI recruiters and interviewers

Apriora is now Alex. If you're comparing AI recruiters and interviewers, these are the closest options and how they differ.

Disclosure: this guide was written by NTRVSTA, and we're one of the Alex AI alternatives covered. We kept every fact about Alex and the others to what they publish themselves, with sources listed at the end.

First, the name. Apriora rebranded to Alex: the legal entity is "Apriora Inc. dba Alex," and apriora.ai now redirects to alex.com. So if you were searching for Apriora alternatives, this page covers the same product. Alex calls itself an AI recruiter. It screens resumes, scores applications for fraud risk, runs a first-round interview by phone or video and books qualified candidates, with proctoring and ID checks built in. Teams compare Alex AI alternatives for structural reasons: pricing isn't published, Alex's pages don't mention an NYC Local Law 144 bias audit, and some teams want a video avatar interviewer or deeper technical rounds. If fraud and identity checks are your top concern, Alex may already be the right fit.

1. NTRVSTA (us)

Alex and NTRVSTA both run AI first-round interviews, but they're built around different goals. Alex leans into recruiter workflow and integrity: fraud scoring, ID-to-selfie matching, proctoring, scheduling and ATS rediscovery. NTRVSTA leans into the interview itself. Our interviewer talks with candidates live, as a video avatar or as audio, and moves difficulty up or down with every answer. For engineers, it draws on an exam library of languages, frameworks, DevOps and AI/ML tools, with a whiteboard for system design. For other roles, it uses STAR behavioral questions and soft-skills checks, and a hint system shows how candidates respond to help.

Reports break scores into technical skills, English proficiency and communication, with video snippets and a shareable summary. AI resume scoring ranks applicants against the job. Our pricing is public and our NYC Local Law 144 audit is on our compliance page. What we don't have: Alex's ID verification and fraud scoring, its scheduling and SMS or WhatsApp outreach, or its 33+ ATS integrations. There's no public API yet. Compare in detail at NTRVSTA vs Alex.

Best for: teams that want an adaptive interview with real technical depth and prices they can see up front.

2. Tenzo

Tenzo is the closest match to Alex's full-recruiter model. Tenzo says its AI recruiter, Morgan, runs 24/7 voice AI interviews by phone or video, reviews resumes, detects fraud, schedules interviews and rediscovers past candidates in the ATS. It says a de-biasing layer strips protected-class information from transcripts before evaluation. Tenzo lists SOC 2 Type 2, 40+ languages and 57+ ATS integrations, and lets candidates opt out of the AI interview. Pricing is a custom quote.

Best for: agencies and volume hirers that want Alex-style end-to-end automation in more languages.

3. HeyMilo

HeyMilo says its AI agents run two-way voice and video interviews, SMS and forms in 20+ languages, score answers with written reasoning, auto-score resumes and add ID verification and cheat flags. Its ATS list is broad and staffing-heavy, including Bullhorn, Avionté and JobDiva. It claims third-party bias audits without naming NYC Local Law 144.

Best for: staffing teams that need AI screening synced with a staffing-focused ATS.

4. ConverzAI

ConverzAI targets staffing firms specifically. It says its Virtual Recruiter engages candidates by phone, text and email, can lead interviews autonomously, and reactivates candidates already in your ATS by matching them to open roles. It lists integrations with Bullhorn, Avionté, Ceipal, JobDiva and TempWorks, and claims SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA. ConverzAI raised a $16M Series A in February 2025, per press coverage.

Best for: staffing agencies that want an AI voice recruiter working their existing database.

5. Ribbon

Ribbon says its AI interviewer runs live two-way voice or video interviews that adapt to answers, on any phone, 24/7, with integrity monitoring for off-screen activity. It also does sourcing, rediscovery and SMS, WhatsApp and email outreach, mostly for frontline roles. Ribbon says it has an NYC Local Law 144 bias audit, last audited in 2025. Dayforce announced a definitive agreement to acquire Ribbon on October 23, 2026, and the deal had not closed when we checked.

Best for: frontline teams that want to try AI voice screening with a 7-day trial.

6. Interviewer.AI

Interviewer.AI is the self-serve pick with public prices. Essential ($199/mo) is AI-scored one-way video plus resume screening, and Professional ($399/mo) adds conversational, avatar-led interviews with dynamic follow-ups and fraud checks, per the company. There's a 14-day free trial on paid plans.

Best for: SMB and mid-market teams that want AI screening without a sales call.
