We wrote this, and we should say so up front: NTRVSTA is our product and it's one of the eight AI recruiting tools below. Facts about the other seven come only from their own websites and announcements (sources at the end), and several of them beat us for the jobs they're built for.
TL;DR
Most AI recruiting tools do one recruiter task well, and only a few try to act as a full AI recruiter. Pick by the task that eats your week: finding people, calling them, interviewing them, or writing everything up. For agencies, check ATS fit first, because a tool that doesn't write back to Bullhorn or JobDiva creates double entry.
- Best for an AI recruiter that screens, interviews and books in one flow: Alex
- Best for sourcing and outreach: Juicebox
- Best for a live adaptive interview once you have a shortlist: NTRVSTA (us)
- Best for staffing agencies reactivating their own database: ConverzAI
- Best for fast AI phone screens on hourly roles: Classet
The picks at a glance
What actually matters when choosing AI recruiting tools
Count the hours first. Track one recruiter's week and sort it into sourcing, outreach, phone screens, interviews, notes and admin. The biggest bucket is where an AI tool pays for itself. Teams often buy a sourcing tool when their real problem is 40 unreturned screening calls a week.
Second, check how the tool talks to candidates. An "AI recruiter" might mean an agent that phones applicants, a text-message bot, or a live interviewer on video. Candidates react differently to each, and some roles suit one better than another. Try every tool as a candidate before you buy, and read our guide to how candidates prepare for AI interviews so you know what they'll expect.
Third, insist on write-back. The tool should push transcripts, scores and status changes into your ATS without anyone copying and pasting. For staffing firms, that means native connectors to the ATS you actually run, and our list of recruiting tools for staffing agencies goes deeper on that.
1. Alex (formerly Apriora)
Alex, which rebranded from Apriora, is the closest thing here to a complete AI recruiter. Alex says it scores applications for fraud risk, screens resumes against the job, runs an always-on first-round interview by phone or video, and books qualified people onto your team's calendar. It also rediscovers past candidates in your ATS, and offers live proctoring plus a check that matches a government ID to a selfie.
Alex says it supports 30 languages and 33+ ATS integrations, and lists customers such as EY, Upwork and Randstad. It announced $20M in total funding in September 2025. Pricing isn't published. Our NTRVSTA vs Alex page compares the two in detail.
Best for: staffing firms and enterprises that want one agent to run the whole first round, with fraud and identity checks built in.
2. Juicebox
Juicebox (also known as PeopleGPT) does the sourcing half of a recruiter's job. Juicebox says you describe the person you want in plain English, and it searches 800M+ profiles from 30+ data sources, ranks the matches, and drafts personalized outreach sequences. Its Agents keep sourcing in the background and can auto-email or auto-shortlist.
There's a free plan, Starter runs $99 to $119 per seat per month, and each Agent costs $199 a month. Juicebox doesn't interview candidates, so pair it with a screening tool.
Best for: recruiters and startup hiring teams that need more qualified people to contact.
3. NTRVSTA (us)
Once your shortlist exists, NTRVSTA takes the first interview off your calendar. Our AI interviewer meets each candidate live, as a video avatar or as audio only, and raises or lowers difficulty depending on how they answer. It runs technical rounds (programming languages, frameworks, system design on a whiteboard) and non-technical ones (STAR behavioral questions, communication, leadership), and candidates take it any time of day. AI resume scoring ranks every applicant against your job description, so you know who to invite.
You get a score breakdown, video snippets of key moments, and a report you can forward to the hiring manager. Plans are public, starting with a $0 Free Demo and then $299/mo for Starter. An independent NYC Local Law 144 bias audit by Asenion was finalized October 20, 2026; see our compliance page.
Where NTRVSTA isn't the right fit: we don't source, send outreach, or dial phone numbers, and we're not an ATS. Our ATS list (Lever and others) is shorter than agency-focused tools', and our API isn't available yet. For SMS-driven hourly hiring, Classet or Ribbon fit better.
Best for: recruiters who want a real interview, not a phone checklist, done before the hiring manager's first call.
4. ConverzAI
ConverzAI builds a Virtual Recruiter for staffing firms. ConverzAI says it contacts candidates by phone, text and email, can run interviews on its own, matches people already in your ATS to new orders, and writes results back. Its integration list is staffing-native: Avionté, Bullhorn, Ceipal, JobDiva, TempWorks and more.
ConverzAI says it holds SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA compliance and runs third-party bias audits. It raised a $16M Series A in February 2025, per press coverage. Pricing isn't published.
Best for: staffing agencies sitting on a large ATS database they want to put back to work.
5. Metaview
For many recruiters, Metaview is the tool that writes interview notes so they don't have to. It now runs a set of agents for notes, reports, sourcing, application review and outreach, and added a voice Screening agent in September 2026 that Metaview says adapts to each answer. The first 25 screens are free.
Sourcing plans are $0, $100 and $300 per user per month. Metaview connects to Ashby, Greenhouse, Lever, Gem and SmartRecruiters and lists SOC 2 Type II.
Best for: in-house recruiters who spend too long on notes, debriefs and reports.
6. Ribbon
Ribbon combines a frontline AI interviewer with outreach. Ribbon says it runs live, adaptive voice or video interviews on any phone, ranks applicants against custom rubrics, and contacts candidates by SMS, WhatsApp and email. It supports 10 languages and 60+ ATS.
Ribbon offers a 7-day free trial. On October 23, 2026, Dayforce announced a deal to acquire Ribbon; it was still pending when we checked. Our NTRVSTA vs Ribbon covers how the products differ.
Best for: frontline recruiting teams that want outreach and interviews from one self-serve tool.
7. Classet
Joy, Classet's AI recruiter, calls each applicant for a first interview built from your own questions and must-haves, fields their questions about the job, then follows up and schedules by text and email. Every call comes back tagged Strong, Good, Borderline or Weak, with quotes from the call as evidence, and Classet says a person makes each decision. A 24/7 Call-to-Apply line lets people apply by phone.
Pricing is public: from $249/mo billed annually, including 50 completed interviews, and every account gets 20 free interviews. Classet says Warden AI runs monthly bias audits.
Best for: hourly employers in trades, logistics and healthcare that want quick phone screens with simple pricing.
8. Manatal
Manatal is the ATS on this list. Manatal says its AI recommends and scores candidates against each job, parses and enriches resumes, and answers questions through an AI Copilot. An AI Interviewer add-on runs async video screens. Plans start at $15 per user per month (annual), with a 14-day trial.
Best for: small agencies that need an affordable system of record with AI help built in.

Questions
What is an AI recruiter?
It's an AI agent that does recruiter tasks on its own, such as screening applications, calling or messaging candidates, running a first interview and booking the next step. Alex, ConverzAI and Classet describe their products this way. Most other AI recruiting tools automate one task rather than the whole sequence.
Will AI recruiting tools replace recruiters?
Not the judgment part. These tools take on repetitive work like sourcing searches, first screens and note-taking. People still need to close candidates, advise hiring managers and make the final decision, which several vendors here say humans should always own.
Which AI recruiting tools work best for staffing agencies?
Look for native connectors to staffing ATS platforms. ConverzAI lists Bullhorn, JobDiva, Avionté and TempWorks. Alex says it supports 33+ ATS, and Ribbon says 60+. Manatal is itself an ATS popular with small agencies.
How do I test an AI recruiting tool before buying?
Go through it as a candidate on your phone and laptop, then run it on one real role for two weeks next to your current process. Compare completion rates, recruiter hours saved and hiring-manager feedback on the people it advanced.
Ready to hand off first-round interviews? Book a 20-minute demo and watch a live adaptive AI interview, or try a sample interview on your own. For platforms that cover more of the funnel, see the best AI recruiting software.
