NTRVSTA wrote this page. We make a competing product, so we stick to Karat's own published pricing and say where it isn't published.
People search for Karat pricing because Karat is unusual: it doesn't sell software for your team to run interviews, it sells the interviews themselves, conducted by its own trained engineers. That's a service, and Karat prices it privately. This page sets out what Karat does publish, what it doesn't, and how to compare a Karat quote with doing the work yourself. We checked Karat's site on November 1, 2026.
The short answer: Karat pricing is not published
Karat does not publish prices or a pricing model. Its homepage offers "Request a Consult" and "Request a Demo," and there is no public pricing page (karat.com/pricing returned a not-found error when we checked). A Karat promotion page offers the first 10 interviews free on sign-up, labeled limited-time. Any real number has to come from a Karat quote.
What you get from Karat's product lines
Karat lists several offerings. None show a price on its site:
What drives the price
Karat doesn't publish its pricing levers, so we won't guess at them. What the site does make clear is that the product is a human service. Every interview needs a trained Interview Engineer, and Karat says those engineers must be fluent in English and follow its structured content.
In general, for interview-as-a-service vendors (not a Karat statement), quotes tend to move with:
- Interview volume and commitment. Services usually price per completed interview, often with a yearly minimum.
- Interview type. A standard first round and a longer project-style interview can be priced differently.
- Content work. Building custom question sets and rubrics for your roles may be scoped separately.
- Regions and hours. Coverage across time zones affects staffing.
Questions to ask Karat before you buy
- What is the price per completed interview at our expected volume, and is there an annual minimum?
- Are no-shows and candidate reschedules charged?
- Is NextGen priced differently from a standard Karat interview?
- Which ATS does Karat connect to, and is setup included?
- Is the free 10-interview promotion still available, and what are its terms?
- How long is the contract, and what notice is needed to leave?
- Can we export recordings, scores and notes for every candidate at the end of the contract?
To put a quote in context, compare it with what a first-round interview costs you today: an engineer's hour plus prep, scheduling and write-up. Our AI interview cost calculator helps with that math.
Cheaper or simpler options than Karat
Most alternatives don't provide human interviewers, so they're cheaper partly because your team or an AI does the interviewing. Prices from each vendor's own site:
- CoderPad: Starter $80 a month billed annually, Team $400 a month annually, $30 per extra interview. Your engineers run the live sessions. See our CoderPad pricing page.
- CodeSignal: Build $79 a month billed annually, with AI Interviewers for product, design and engineering roles.
- HackerRank: Starter $199 a month or $1,990 a year; pricing for its Chakra AI interviewer is not published.
- Codility: Online plans from $4,800 a year, with structured live interviews led by your team. See our Codility pricing breakdown.
- NTRVSTA (us): our AI interviewer runs live, adaptive technical and non-technical first rounds around the clock, alongside sourcing and scheduling. If you specifically want trained human engineers conducting every interview, that's Karat's model and we're not a substitute. Starter is $0; Team is $490 a month billed annually (plans).

Questions
How much does Karat cost?
Karat doesn't publish pricing. Its site sends buyers to request a consult or a demo, and it has no public pricing page. You'll need a quote from Karat's sales team for your interview volume and products.
Does Karat offer free interviews?
A Karat promotion page offers the first 10 interviews free when you sign up. It is labeled a limited-time offer with terms that apply and no stated expiry, so ask Karat whether it is still running before you count on it.
Who conducts Karat interviews?
Karat's trained human Interview Engineers run the interviews, using structured content and scoring rubrics. In its NextGen interviews, launched December 10, 2025, candidates work with an AI assistant while a Karat Interview Engineer observes and probes. Karat says AI never makes the final hiring decision.
What are cheaper alternatives to Karat?
Tools where your own engineers or an AI run the interview cost less to start. CoderPad Starter is $80 a month billed annually, CodeSignal Build is $79 a month billed annually, and HackerRank Starter is $199 a month. They don't supply human interviewers, which is Karat's core offer.
