Harver vs NTRVSTA: validated assessments or an AI recruiter inside your ATS?

Two different jobs: Harver measures applicants with validated assessments, while Carolina works the whole requisition. Here's how to tell which one you need.

Full disclosure: NTRVSTA wrote this Harver vs NTRVSTA comparison, and we sell one of the two products. Everything we say about Harver comes from Harver's own website, linked in the Sources section at the bottom.

Harver and NTRVSTA both show up when talent teams search for "AI in hiring," but they solve different problems. Harver is an assessment and screening suite for volume hiring. NTRVSTA is agentic AI for sourcing, recruiting and hiring, built around Carolina, an AI Head of Talent that works inside the systems you already run.

The short answer

Choose Harver if you hire in large volumes for contact centers, retail or hospitality and you want validated, game-based and spoken-language assessments, reference checks and structured screening that your I/O psychologists can defend. Choose NTRVSTA if you want an agent that runs more of the requisition: finding people, reaching out, ranking resumes, running live AI interviews and booking panels, with you deciding which steps it may take on its own. Harver doesn't publish pricing. NTRVSTA does, with a $0 Starter plan.

How NTRVSTA works

You open a role and Carolina gets to work on it. It sources candidates and runs outreach by email, SMS and WhatsApp. As applications arrive, it scores and ranks every resume against the job and shows why each person landed where they did. Strong candidates get a live AI interview, as a video avatar or audio only, that adapts its questions to each answer. It covers engineering roles and non-technical ones, runs 24/7 and works in multiple languages. You get a score breakdown, video snippets and a report you can share with the hiring manager.

Carolina then books interviews and panels against your Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoom or Calendly calendars. You can ask it pipeline questions in plain English, and it sends a morning digest in Slack or Microsoft Teams. You decide, action by action, whether it should only suggest, ask first or act on its own. Offers and compensation changes always wait for a person.

None of this replaces your ATS. Carolina connects to the systems you keep, including Workday, Greenhouse, Lever and UKG, and setup takes a few days depending on how much you customize.

How Harver works

Harver describes itself as predictive assessments and automated hiring tools for volume hiring. Its catalog has grown through combination: Outmatch is now part of Harver, and the suite includes pymetrics game-based assessments, spoken-language assessments, an AI-readiness assessment called AI PREVAIL, and Checkster for reference checks. Around those sit automated screening, matching and interview booking for qualified applicants.

Interviews at Harver are either one-way recorded videos or live video calls with your own interviewers. Harver says its video scoring uses human evaluators, with "no automated decision-making" and no facial or micro-expression analysis. That's a deliberate design choice, and it's a real difference from an AI interviewer.

Harver is heavy on documentation. It says it complies with NYC Local Law 144 and reports independent LL144 bias audits, validates its models against the four-fifths rule, and lists ISO 27001, GDPR and CCPA. Its site describes SOC 2 as Type 1 in one place and Type 2 in another, so ask for the current report. Named customers include Brinker International, Albert Heijn, Penn State Hershey Medical Center and KellyConnect.

When Harver is the better choice

  • Your main problem is choosing among thousands of applicants for hourly or contact-center roles, and you want validated assessments rather than an interview.
  • Your hiring science team wants game-based or spoken-language assessments, plus reference checks, from the same vendor.
  • You prefer that people, not an AI, score every video interview.
  • Your security review asks for ISO 27001, which Harver lists and we don't publish.

Here's where NTRVSTA isn't the right fit. We're newer and smaller than Harver and have no published customer case studies yet. We're not an assessment science vendor and don't sell game-based tests or reference checks. We're also not a system of record, so if you want to retire your ATS, look elsewhere. And for frontline flows built on SMS apply and chat scheduling, Paradox, Fountain or Workstream are designed for that job.

Pricing compared

Harver doesn't publish prices. Its site offers an ROI calculator and a demo, so you'll need a quote.

NTRVSTA's plans are on our pricing section:

  • Starter costs $0: a single open role, 10 AI interviews, and no credit card to start.
  • Team is $490 a month on a yearly contract ($590 if you pay monthly), for up to 10 seats with 60 AI interviews a month included and $12 for each one after that.
  • Scale is $1,490 a month on a yearly contract ($1,790 if you pay monthly), with 250 AI interviews a month included and $9 for each extra one.
  • Enterprise teams and staffing agencies pay per hire or per seat, whichever fits how they hire.

The math: if you use all 60 interviews on Team with annual billing, that's about $8.17 per interview. Scale at full use comes to about $5.96 per interview. Sourcing, outreach, resume scoring and scheduling come with the plan, and annual billing saves about 17%.

Who should pick which

  • If you screen high volumes of frontline applicants with validated assessments, pick Harver.
  • If you need an agent to find candidates, not just evaluate applicants, pick NTRVSTA.
  • If you want reference checks from the same vendor as your assessments, pick Harver.
  • If your hiring managers want a live first-round interview that adapts to each answer, pick NTRVSTA.
  • If you want to see pricing before a sales call, pick NTRVSTA.
  • If your policy is that humans score every interview, pick Harver.

Questions

Does Harver have an AI interviewer?

Not on the pages we checked. Harver offers one-way recorded video interviews and live video interviews with people, and it says its video interview scoring uses human evaluators with no automated decision-making or facial analysis. NTRVSTA's Carolina runs live, adaptive AI interviews as a video avatar or audio only.

Can Harver find candidates for me?

Harver doesn't describe sourcing or outreach on its site. It works on the applicants you already have, with assessments, screening, matching and interview booking. Carolina sources candidates for an open role and contacts them by email, SMS and WhatsApp.

Do Harver and NTRVSTA both publish NYC Local Law 144 audits?

Harver says it complies with NYC Local Law 144, and its security page reports independent bias audits. NTRVSTA's independent audit by Asenion was finalized on October 20, 2026. It covers our AI interviews, not resume scoring or sourcing.

Could a team use Harver and NTRVSTA together?

Yes, in principle. Harver positions itself as an ATS add-on and lists Workday, UKG and iCIMS Prime among its integrations. Carolina also works inside your existing ATS. A volume employer could keep Harver's assessments for frontline roles and use Carolina for professional roles that need sourcing and live interviews.

Want to watch Carolina work one of your open roles? Book a demo, or try a sample AI interview first. The audit details are on our compliance page.

We checked pricing and features for both products on November 1, 2026. Vendors change these often, so confirm with each one before you buy.
