Harver alternatives: 7 competitors for assessments, AI screening and volume hiring

Most teams that leave Harver want either an AI interviewer, lighter self-serve testing, or an agent that also finds candidates. Here's who fits each case.

Full disclosure: we wrote this list at NTRVSTA, and our product is one of the seven Harver alternatives below. Facts about every other tool come from that company's own site or official announcements, and the links are under Sources.

Harver is a serious assessment vendor for volume hiring, with pymetrics games, spoken-language tests, Checkster reference checks and structured video interviews that people score. Teams look for Harver alternatives and competitors for a few structural reasons. Some want an AI that actually conducts the first interview, which Harver doesn't offer. Some want self-serve skills tests with prices on the website. Others want help before the applicant pool exists: sourcing, outreach and scheduling. If validated assessments for frontline roles are the core of your process, Harver may still be the right home, and we cover that below.

1. NTRVSTA (us)

NTRVSTA replaces a different part of the funnel than Harver does. Harver evaluates the applicants who arrive. Carolina, our AI Head of Talent, also goes out and finds people for an open role and contacts them by email, SMS and WhatsApp. It then scores and ranks every resume with an explanation, runs a live AI interview that adapts to each answer (video avatar or audio, technical or non-technical, around the clock), and books panels on your calendar. You set each action to suggest, ask first or auto, and offers and compensation always wait for a person.

What we don't replace: game-based assessments, spoken-language tests and reference checks. We're also newer and smaller, with no published case studies yet. Our NYC LL144 audit covers the AI interviews and is on our compliance page. For a row-by-row view, read Harver vs NTRVSTA.

Best for: teams that want one agent working professional and technical requisitions inside the ATS they already have.

2. HireVue

HireVue is the nearest match to Harver's breadth. It sells game-based assessments, skills tests, one-way and live video interviews with a Zoom and Teams co-pilot, and a career-site chat agent. The main structural difference is its AI Interviewer, launched in June 2026, which HireVue says drafts questions and rubrics from the job description and runs a two-way voice interview with probing follow-ups. HireVue lists SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001 and FedRAMP, and says its fairness audits cover NYC Local Law 144. Prices are quote-only.

Best for: large employers that want assessments and AI screening from one long-established vendor.

3. Sapia.ai

Sapia.ai interviews every applicant through a structured, text-based chat that candidates complete on their phones. You design the interview in its Job Analysis Studio, and recruiters review scores through a Talent Intelligence Assistant, with results pushed to an ATS such as Workday, SAP SuccessFactors or iCIMS. Sapia says it has run AI interviews since 2018. It links an independent disparate impact analysis by BLDS, though that page doesn't say the audit was done under LL144.

Best for: retail and enterprise volume hiring where a text interview suits the candidate pool.

4. TestGorilla

If you came to Harver for assessments but want something you can buy and run yourself, TestGorilla is the self-serve option. It publishes a library of 350+ skills tests and job simulations, a free plan, and paid assessment plans from $215 a month billed annually. It also sells async AI interviews with dynamic follow-ups that candidates complete on their own time. TestGorilla lists SOC 2 Type II on its pricing page.

Best for: small and mid-size teams that want skills testing at a known price.

5. Vervoe

Vervoe swaps personality and game-based measures for work samples. Its AI Assessment Builder drafts role-based simulations (spreadsheets, code, video, text) from a job description, then ML models grade and rank candidates with explainable scores. It adds chat and voice screening before the test, ID verification and a 120-day post-hire feedback loop. Vervoe says Holistic AI verified its NYC bias audit.

Best for: hiring teams that want to see people do the work before they interview.

6. Paradox

Paradox is the pick when the bottleneck is speed to interview, not measurement. Its assistant, Olivia, takes applications, asks screening questions and schedules over chat and SMS for frontline roles. Workday completed its acquisition of Paradox on October 1, 2025, and paradox.ai still runs as its own brand. It doesn't publish a bias audit or prices.

Best for: retail, QSR and franchise employers, especially those already running Workday.

7. Fountain

Fountain is a full hiring platform for hourly teams (ATS, CRM, sourcing, onboarding and shift scheduling). Its voice AI interviewer, Anna, runs structured interviews by phone or browser, and Fountain's support docs say Anna adapts to candidate responses by default before returning a score, summary, transcript and recording. Unlike Harver, Fountain replaces your ATS rather than sitting on top of it.

Best for: hourly employers that would rather consolidate hiring into one system.

When to stay with Harver

  • Your I/O psychology or legal team has already validated Harver's assessments for your roles, and switching would mean redoing that work.
  • You use pymetrics games, spoken-language assessments and Checkster reference checks together.
  • You want humans, not AI, to score every video interview, which is how Harver says it works.
  • Harver already plugs into your Workday, UKG or iCIMS Prime setup.

Questions

What is the closest Harver competitor for assessments?

HireVue is the closest like-for-like option. It also sells game-based assessments, skills tests, one-way and live video interviews, plus a voice AI Interviewer, with a long list of compliance documents. Vervoe and TestGorilla are lighter options built around skills tests and job simulations.

Which Harver alternatives publish pricing?

Of the tools on this list, NTRVSTA and TestGorilla publish prices. TestGorilla has a free plan and paid assessment plans from $215 a month billed annually. Harver, HireVue, Sapia.ai, Vervoe, Paradox and Fountain ask you to request a quote.

Do any Harver alternatives run an AI interview instead of a recorded video?

Yes. NTRVSTA runs live, adaptive AI interviews by video avatar or audio. HireVue and Fountain run voice AI interviews, and Sapia.ai runs a structured text chat interview. Harver itself uses one-way recorded or live human video interviews.

Is Harver part of another company?

No acquisition of Harver was found when we checked. Harver absorbed Outmatch, whose site banner says Outmatch is now part of Harver, and it sells pymetrics assessments and Checkster reference checking.
