We wrote this list at NTRVSTA, and our own product is one of the seven XOR alternatives below. Facts about every other tool come from the vendor's own site or news coverage, linked at the end.
XOR does a specific job well: it says it brings blue-collar and hourly candidates to your door, prescreened and booked into a recruiter's calendar, for $500 per hire. So why look at XOR alternatives and competitors? Usually for structural reasons. Some teams want to own sourcing and screening themselves rather than buy hires in blocks of 10. Some hire for office, technical or professional roles that a pay-per-hire hourly model doesn't cover. Others want an AI that interviews candidates live, a named list of ATS connections (XOR's partners page shows logos without names), or a published bias audit. If XOR keeps filling your hourly roles at a price you like, stay put.
XOR alternatives at a glance
1. NTRVSTA (us)
XOR takes the recruiting work off your plate; NTRVSTA gives your team an agent to do it under your rules. Carolina, our AI recruiter, sources candidates for each open role, reaches them by SMS, WhatsApp or email, and ranks every resume against the job with an explanation. She then runs a live AI interview by video avatar or audio that adapts to each answer, books the next round on your calendar, and reports to you in Slack or Teams. You set each action to suggest, ask first or auto, and offers always wait for a person. Our NYC Local Law 144 audit of the AI interviews is on our compliance page.
What we don't replace: we aren't an ATS, we don't publish a candidate database, and for SMS-apply hourly hiring at very high volume, the platforms below are purpose-built. Compare the two directly in XOR vs NTRVSTA.
Best for: teams hiring hourly and salaried roles that want sourcing, interviews and scheduling handled inside the ATS they already use.
2. Workstream
Workstream is the broadest swap for an hourly employer. It calls itself an AI-native operating platform for hourly teams, covering applicant tracking, text-to-apply, interview scheduling, onboarding, payroll, time tracking and labor compliance. Its Voice AI answers applicant calls at any hour, runs first-round screens and books interviews, and Workstream says its reminder calls cut interview no-shows by 55%. Video AI lets applicants record answers for a manager's highlight reel. It names ADP, Checkr and Indeed among its integrations. Plan prices aren't published.
Best for: restaurant, retail and healthcare operators who want hiring and payroll from one vendor.
3. Fountain
Fountain is a full hiring platform for frontline teams: ATS, CRM, sourcing, onboarding and shift scheduling, coordinated by an agent it calls Cue. Its voice AI interviewer, Anna, runs structured interviews by phone or browser, and Fountain's support docs say she asks clarifying questions and adapts to answers by default, then hands a score, summary, transcript and recording to a person. Fountain says it's SOC 2 compliant and connects to 40+ systems.
Best for: QSR, logistics and gig employers that want voice screening built into their applicant tracking.
4. Paradox
Workday completed its acquisition of Paradox on October 1, 2025, and paradox.ai still runs under its own brand. Its assistant, Olivia, handles applications, screening questions, interview scheduling, hiring events and onboarding over chat and SMS. That covers the text-first experience XOR's Hiring Platform offers, without the per-hire delivery model. Paradox doesn't describe a live voice or avatar interviewer.
Best for: high-volume frontline employers, especially those already running Workday.
5. Classet
Classet is built for hourly roles and publishes its price, which makes budgeting simple. Its AI recruiter, Joy, calls applicants for a first phone interview using your questions and must-haves, answers their questions, and handles scheduling and follow-ups by text and email. Each call gets a Strong, Good, Borderline or Weak label with quoted evidence. Hiring Hub starts at $249/mo billed annually ($349 month to month) with 50 completed interviews, and every account gets 20 free interviews. Classet says Warden AI runs monthly bias audits.
Best for: trades, logistics and car-wash style employers that want a fast phone screen at a known monthly cost.
6. Joveo
If the part of XOR you value most is candidate attraction, Joveo is worth a call. It built its business on programmatic job advertising and now calls itself an agentic recruiting platform: AI-managed job and social ads, AI career sites, email, SMS and WhatsApp campaigns, a chatbot, scheduling and an AI Interviewer that runs on demand by web, phone or WhatsApp. Joveo says it integrates with 100+ ATS. Pricing is customized to campaign scale and channels.
Best for: large employers and staffing firms that want more qualified applicants and will manage ad spend to get them.
7. Humanly
Humanly has grown through acquisitions (Teamable, Sprockets, Qualifi and HourWork among them) into a suite for high-volume and frontline hiring. It engages applicants by SMS, email, chat and voice, runs structured AI interviews over chat, voice and video, schedules, and delivers a ranked shortlist with transcripts. It lists Workday, UKG, iCIMS and SAP SuccessFactors among its ATS connections. Pricing isn't published.
Best for: hourly and frontline teams that would rather buy engagement, AI screening and scheduling as one suite.
When to stay with XOR
- You fill hourly roles in batches of 10 or more and like paying only for hires, at $500 each.
- You don't have recruiters to source candidates, and XOR's career fairs, referrals and digital ads reach people your job boards miss.
- XOR's money-back guarantee for roles still open after 90 days is part of how you justify the spend.
- Your applicants are comfortable with text and chatbot screening, and a person runs the first interview anyway.

Questions
What is XOR best known for?
XOR is known for text recruiting and its AI Recruiter offer for blue-collar and hourly roles. XOR says it attracts candidates through digital marketing, virtual career fairs and referral programs, prescreens them, and books first interviews into your recruiter's calendar for $500 per hire, with a $5,000 minimum.
Which XOR competitors publish their prices?
Of the tools on this list, NTRVSTA and Classet publish prices. Classet lists its Hiring Hub from $249 a month billed annually. Workstream, Fountain, Paradox, Joveo and Humanly ask you to contact sales. XOR publishes its per-hire price for the AI Recruiter but not for its Hiring Platform.
Is there an XOR alternative that also runs payroll?
Workstream is the closest. It combines hourly hiring with onboarding, payroll, time tracking and compliance alerts in one platform, and it says 46 of the top 50 restaurant brands use it. Fountain also covers onboarding and shift scheduling, but not payroll on the pages we checked.
Do any XOR alternatives interview candidates with AI?
Yes. NTRVSTA runs live, adaptive AI interviews by video avatar or audio. Fountain's Anna runs voice interviews by phone or browser, Workstream's Voice AI runs first-round phone screens, Classet's Joy runs scripted phone interviews, and Joveo and Humanly offer AI interviewers too. Paradox focuses on chat and SMS screening.
Thinking about moving off a pay-per-hire model? Book a 20-minute demo and we'll run Carolina on one of your open roles, or try the AI interview as a candidate first.
We checked pricing and features for each tool here in November 2026. Plans and offers change, so confirm with every vendor before you sign.
