NTRVSTA wrote this comparison, so take it as a vendor's view: our product is one of the CodeSignal alternatives here. To keep it fair, we used only what each company publishes, with links in the Sources list.
CodeSignal is a strong product with public pricing, so most teams researching CodeSignal alternatives aren't escaping anything. They're checking fit. Common reasons: CodeSignal's AI Interviewer is a voice agent by phone or browser, and some teams want candidates to see a video avatar. Its interviewer agents are split across plans (Build covers product, design and engineering, while Grow adds sales, customer success and marketing), so mixed hiring can push you up a tier. Credits are used per assessment or interview, at $20 each for extras. And some teams want a live coding pad or human interviewers instead. If you hire mostly engineers and like CodeSignal's assessments, you may be in the right place already.
CodeSignal alternatives at a glance
1. NTRVSTA (us)
CodeSignal and NTRVSTA overlap more than most pairs on this list, since both run AI interviews for engineering and non-engineering roles. The differences are structural. NTRVSTA's interviewer can appear as a video avatar or run audio only, and you can use a ready-made avatar or one tailored to match your recruiter. It adapts difficulty up or down as the candidate answers, rather than only adding follow-ups. And every NTRVSTA plan covers both technical exams and soft-skills interviews, so you don't pick a tier by role family.
For engineers, our exam library covers major languages, frameworks and DevOps tools, with a whiteboard for system design and hints to see how candidates take guidance. For other roles, behavioral questions follow STAR. AI resume scoring ranks applicants before anyone interviews. Where CodeSignal is ahead: its coding assessment library and IDE co-pilot, its lower entry price, and its customer list, which includes Meta and Google. We have no public API yet and fewer enterprise case studies. Full detail on NTRVSTA vs CodeSignal.
Best for: teams that want candidates to see a live interviewer and want one tool across every role type.

2. HackerRank (Chakra)
HackerRank's Chakra, generally available since October 5, 2026, is built for a specific test: how engineers solve real problems with AI. HackerRank says Chakra opens a canvas with a real-world problem, watches the candidate work with an AI assistant, asks adaptive voice follow-ups about their decisions, and scores each competency with evidence. Co-founder Vivek Ravisankar told TechCrunch it merges the recruiter screen, take-home and engineer follow-up into one session.
Platform plans are public (Starter $199/mo, Pro $449/mo), but Chakra itself is priced on request.
Best for: engineering and AI-heavy roles where you want to watch candidates build.
3. CoderPad
If you mainly use CodeSignal for live technical interviews, CoderPad specializes in that. CoderPad says its Interview pad supports 99+ languages and frameworks with playback, and higher plans include AI assistants like Claude Code and Codex in the pad. Its Qualify pre-screen is asynchronous: candidates record video answers and an AI scores them against your rubric.
Starter is $80/mo billed annually for 60 interviews a year, and there's a free trial with no credit card.
Best for: teams that want a polished live coding environment for human interviewers.
4. Codility
Codility offers async coding tasks (Screen), structured live interviews in VS Code (Interview) and Skills Intelligence. It leans hard on integrity, with proctoring, ID verification and impersonation detection. Codility lists SOC 2, ISO 27001 and WCAG 2.2 AA, and customers like GitHub, SpaceX and Citi. It has no AI interviewer.
Best for: enterprises that want proctored assessments and human-led interviews with controlled AI use.
5. Karat
Karat takes the opposite approach to an AI interviewer. Its trained human Interview Engineers run your technical interviews with structured content and rubrics. In NextGen interviews, launched December 2025, candidates use an AI assistant while a live Karat interviewer probes their reasoning. Karat says it can provide a SOC 2 Type II report on request. Pricing isn't published.
Best for: engineering teams that want people, not AI, conducting interviews at scale.
6. iMocha
iMocha offers 10,000+ assessments plus Tara, an AI interviewer it describes as an adaptive agent that asks verbal questions, follows up based on answers and scores skills in real time against role profiles. iMocha positions itself as a Skills Intelligence platform and integrates with Workday, SAP SuccessFactors and Oracle. Pricing isn't published.
Best for: large enterprises that want assessments and skills data across the workforce.

Questions
Does CodeSignal's AI Interviewer use video?
CodeSignal describes it as an agent candidates speak with by phone or browser. It doesn't describe a video avatar. NTRVSTA offers a video avatar option, and Eightfold announced a digital-human Avatar in July 2026.
How does CodeSignal's credit pricing work?
Per CodeSignal, a credit is used when a candidate starts an assessment, AI interview or live interview. Build includes 60 credits a year on annual billing, Grow includes 420, and extra credits cost $20 each.
Which CodeSignal alternative is best for live coding?
CoderPad is built around the live coding pad. Codility and HackerRank also run live technical interviews, with human interviewers in the room.
