Disclosure: we built NTRVSTA, and it's one of the six HeyMilo alternatives below, so read this as a vendor's guide. We limited every claim about HeyMilo and the other tools to what each company publishes, and listed our sources at the bottom.
HeyMilo is a capable AI screener. It says its agents run two-way voice and video interviews, plus SMS and form screening, around the clock in 20+ languages, then score answers against your criteria and sync everything back to your ATS. Teams still look at HeyMilo alternatives and competitors for a few concrete reasons: plan prices and a free trial aren't published, its bias audit claims don't mention NYC Local Law 144 by name, and some teams want an avatar interviewer or deeper technical rounds than a screening call covers. If you're a staffing firm already running HeyMilo on Bullhorn or JobDiva, it may be serving you well.
HeyMilo alternatives at a glance
1. NTRVSTA (us)
HeyMilo is broad: voice, video, SMS and forms across many ATS. NTRVSTA is narrower and goes deeper on the interview. Our AI interviewer talks with each candidate live, as a video avatar or audio only, and moves the difficulty up or down after every answer. Engineering roles draw on an exam library (Java, Python, C++, JavaScript and more, plus React, Node.js, DevOps and AI/ML tools), and system-design rounds use an interactive whiteboard. Non-technical roles get STAR behavioral questions and soft-skills checks, and an optional hint system shows how candidates use guidance. Reports break scores into technical skills, English proficiency and communication, with video snippets of key moments.
Prices are public, and our NYC Local Law 144 audit by Asenion is on our compliance page. Where HeyMilo is ahead: SMS and form screening, ID verification and cheat flags, and a much longer ATS list (we offer Lever and others). We also have no public API yet. The full comparison is at NTRVSTA vs HeyMilo.
Best for: companies screening engineers or professional roles that want an adaptive interview and a price they can see.
2. Tenzo
Tenzo is the nearest like-for-like swap. Its AI recruiter, Morgan, runs voice interviews by phone or video at any hour, reviews resumes, detects fraud, books interviews and resurfaces past applicants from your ATS, with notes written back automatically. Tenzo says it supports 40+ languages and 57+ two-way ATS integrations, holds SOC 2 Type 2, and strips protected-class details from transcripts before scoring. Candidates can opt out of the AI interview and request accommodations. Pricing is quoted by volume.
Best for: high-volume and staffing teams that want HeyMilo-style coverage in even more languages.
3. ConverzAI
ConverzAI focuses on staffing firms. Its Virtual Recruiter reaches candidates by phone, text and email, can lead screening interviews on its own, and matches people already in your ATS to new openings, writing results back. Its ATS list is staffing-heavy: Bullhorn, Avionté, Ceipal, JobDiva, TempWorks and others. ConverzAI claims SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA and third-party bias audits (LL144 isn't named), and it raised a $16M Series A in February 2025, per press coverage.
Best for: agencies whose biggest untapped asset is the candidate database they already have.
4. Alex
Alex (formerly Apriora) pitches itself as a full AI recruiter. It scores applications for fraud risk, screens resumes, runs an always-on first round by phone or video, and books qualified people onto your team's calendars. It adds real-time proctoring and an ID check that matches a government ID to a live selfie. Alex says it supports 30 languages and 33+ ATS integrations, and it announced $20M in total funding in September 2025.
Best for: teams where identity fraud and proxy candidates are a bigger worry than interview depth.
5. Ribbon
Ribbon says its AI interviewer runs live voice or video interviews that adapt to each answer, from any phone, 24/7, and scores them against custom rubrics. It also sources candidates and reaches out by SMS, WhatsApp and email, and it says it connects to 60+ ATS. It's one of the few here with a self-serve start: a 7-day free trial. Two things to weigh: Ribbon says it has an NYC LL144 bias audit, last done in 2025, and Dayforce announced a definitive agreement to acquire Ribbon on October 23, 2026, which had not closed when we checked.
Best for: frontline employers that want to test AI voice screening before talking to sales.
6. Interviewer.AI
Interviewer.AI is the budget-friendly, self-serve option. Its Essential plan ($199/mo on monthly billing) covers AI-scored one-way video interviews and resume screening. Professional ($399/mo) adds conversational, avatar-led interviews with dynamic follow-up questions and fraud checks, according to the company. ATS integrations such as Workday, Greenhouse and Bullhorn are on the Enterprise plan only, and paid plans come with a 14-day free trial.
Best for: smaller teams that want to start AI screening this week without a sales call.

Questions
How much does HeyMilo cost?
HeyMilo doesn't publish plan prices, and we didn't find a published free trial. Among the alternatives on this page, NTRVSTA and Interviewer.AI publish their prices, and Ribbon advertises a 7-day free trial.
Does HeyMilo have an NYC Local Law 144 bias audit?
HeyMilo says it has third-party bias audits, but the pages we checked don't name NYC Local Law 144. If you hire in New York City, ask HeyMilo for the audit summary. Of the tools here, NTRVSTA publishes an LL144 audit by Asenion, and Ribbon says it has one, last done in 2025.
Which HeyMilo competitor is best for staffing agencies?
ConverzAI and Tenzo are the closest fits. ConverzAI is built for staffing firms and reactivates candidates already in your ATS, and Tenzo pairs voice interviews with fraud checks and scheduling in 40+ languages. HeyMilo itself also integrates with staffing systems like Bullhorn, Avionté and JobDiva, which is a good reason to stay.
