Best one-way video interview software in 2026

Eight tools for recorded, on-your-own-time video interviews, plus one honest note on when a live AI interview is the better fit.

Disclosure first: NTRVSTA wrote this list, but we don't sell one-way video, so our product isn't one of the eight ranked picks. We mention it once at the end, as an alternative format, and kept every fact about the ranked tools to what those companies publish, with sources below.

TL;DR

One way video interview software lets candidates record answers to set questions whenever they like, and lets your team review them later. For a plain asynchronous video interview, the leaders on price and simplicity are Willo, Hireflix and Spark Hire. Larger organizations that want recordings inside a structured, audited process should look at VidCruiter or HireVue.

  • Best for async video plus written answers and right-to-work checks: Willo
  • Best for the simplest, cheapest recorded interview: Hireflix
  • Best for one-way video with AI summaries and an optional ATS: Spark Hire
  • Best for structured recorded interviews at enterprise scale: VidCruiter
  • Best for engineering pre-screens on video: CoderPad Qualify

What actually matters when choosing one way video interview software

Start with what candidates go through. A one-way interview is a favor you're asking: the candidate films themselves answering questions with no one on the other side. Keep it short, make it work on any phone without an app or an account, and tell people how long it takes. Have someone on your team record a full run on their own phone before you send it to anyone.

Then look at review. The time saved in scheduling often comes back as hours spent watching videos. Transcripts, summaries and rubric scores cut that down, and sharing links let hiring managers watch only the finalists. If a tool scores recordings with AI, ask what it scores and how you can check it, and read our guide on how AI interviews are scored.

Finally, compare pricing models, because they vary more than features do. Willo charges per live role, Hireflix by company size, Spark Hire per month, and the enterprise suites by quote. Map each to how many roles you open and how many candidates you invite per role.

1. Willo

Willo gives candidates more ways to answer than most asynchronous video interview tools: video, a written answer, a file upload or multiple choice, mixed within one interview. You can start from 1,500+ ready-made question sets. Willo Intelligence adds transcripts, summaries and benchmarks, and Willo describes its approach as "AI-assisted insights, human-led decisions."

The Willo Verified add-on runs ID, right-to-work and background checks, which matters for UK hiring. Willo Lite is GBP 49 per live role per month with no contract, for up to five live roles. Enterprise starts at GBP 2,999 a year with 50+ integrations, including Workday, Greenhouse and Lever.

Best for: UK and EU employers that want flexible async screening and compliance checks in one tool.

2. Hireflix

Hireflix has stayed deliberately narrow. It says it offers one-way video and nothing else: no live interviews, no assessments, no scheduling. You build the interview once, invite as many candidates as you want, and they record on any device without downloading anything or creating an account.

That focus keeps the price low: $75/mo billed yearly for companies under 50 people, and $150/mo for 50 to 250. There's a one-month free trial with no card. Hireflix lists SOC 2, automatic video deletion and integrations with Lever, Greenhouse, Ashby, Workable and others, plus an API.

Best for: small teams that just need recorded answers they can share.

3. Spark Hire

Spark Hire still sells its one-way video interviews on their own, and it now also offers an ATS. On the video side, Spark Hire says its AI auto-summarizes each response, scores submissions against key factors, and transcribes in 50+ languages. Scheduled live video interviews are included too.

Annual video plans start at $249/mo with unlimited jobs and users; monthly plans start at $299/mo for up to five jobs and five users. Spark Hire says it connects to 100+ providers.

Best for: SMBs that want one-way video with AI summaries, and maybe an ATS later.

4. VidCruiter

VidCruiter treats pre-recorded video as one part of a structured hiring process, alongside live panels, interview guides, reference checks and skills tests. VidCruiter says its AI scores recorded answers against rubrics and drafts notes, and it checks recordings for fraud and deepfakes. It lists SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, and integrations with Workday, SAP and Oracle.

VidCruiter shows an autonomous AI Interviewer as coming soon. Pricing isn't published.

Best for: enterprise and government employers that need recorded interviews inside an audited, structured process.

5. HireVue

HireVue has long offered on-demand video interviews, and they're still part of its platform, along with live video, assessments and a voice AI Interviewer added in June 2026. If you already use HireVue for assessments, adding recorded interviews keeps everything in one place. HireVue doesn't publish prices, and it says its fairness audits extend to NYC Local Law 144.

Best for: enterprises that already run HireVue and want one-way video in the same system.

6. Interviewer.AI

Interviewer.AI focuses on AI scoring of recordings. On its Essential plan ($199/mo), it builds a one-way video interview from your job description, sends a link, and scores the responses, with resume screening included. Teams that later want two-way interviews can move to the Professional plan for avatar-led conversations. A 14-day free trial is offered on paid plans.

Best for: SMB and mid-market teams that want every recording scored before they watch it.

7. CoderPad Qualify

CoderPad, best known for its live coding pad, added Qualify for the step before a technical interview. CoderPad says candidates record video answers that an AI reviewer scores against your custom rubric, producing a ranked shortlist. Qualify sits alongside CoderPad's coding screens and live interviews. CoderPad's published plans start at $80/mo billed annually, with a free trial and no card.

Best for: engineering teams that want a short recorded pre-screen before spending engineer time.

8. Radancy Screening and Scheduling (formerly myInterview)

myInterview was acquired by Radancy, announced in September 2025, and myinterview.com now redirects to Radancy. Radancy says the product uses conversational AI agents to screen candidates and answer their questions, collects one-way video (or voice and text alternatives) that AI turns into scores, and schedules interviews across Outlook, Google Calendar and Teams. Pricing isn't published.

Best for: employers already using Radancy's talent acquisition cloud.

Honorable mention: NTRVSTA (us), if you want async timing with a live conversation

Some teams pick one-way video only because they can't schedule live first rounds. If that's you, NTRVSTA offers a different trade: candidates still start whenever they want, 24/7, but the interview is live. Our AI interviewer, as a video avatar or audio, asks follow-ups and adjusts difficulty to each answer, so a vague reply gets a probing question. It covers technical and non-technical roles.

Where NTRVSTA isn't the right fit: if you want candidates' own recorded answers for humans to watch, or the lowest possible cost per candidate, a one-way tool above is the better buy. We're also not an ATS, and our API isn't available yet. See one-way vs live AI interviews for the full comparison.

Our pick

  • Cheapest, simplest recordings: Hireflix.
  • Mixed answer types and UK right-to-work checks: Willo.
  • AI summaries plus an ATS option: Spark Hire.
  • Structured recorded interviews in a big organization: VidCruiter or HireVue.
  • Engineering pre-screens: CoderPad Qualify.
  • You want 24/7 timing but a conversation that follows up: NTRVSTA.

Questions

What is an asynchronous video interview?

It's an interview where the candidate records answers to preset questions on their own time, and the hiring team watches later. Nobody has to be online at the same moment, which removes scheduling. The trade-off is that nobody can ask a follow-up question.

Do candidates like one-way video interviews?

Reactions are mixed. Many like the flexibility, while others find talking to a camera with no one listening awkward. Keep interviews short, explain how recordings are used and who reviews them, and let people practice a question first if the tool allows it.

How many questions should a one-way interview have?

Fewer than you think. Three to five focused questions are usually enough for a first screen. Each extra question adds review time for your team and drop-off risk for candidates.

What's the difference between one-way video and a live AI interview?

One-way video records answers to fixed questions for people to review later. A live AI interview, like NTRVSTA's, holds a real-time conversation that changes based on each answer, while still letting candidates choose when to start.

Thinking about moving from recordings to a conversation? Book a 20-minute demo of a live adaptive AI interview, or try one as a candidate first. For all formats, see our list of the best video interview software, or compare NTRVSTA vs Spark Hire.
