NTRVSTA wrote this TestGorilla comparison, and since we're one of the two products, you should know that going in. Facts about TestGorilla are limited to its homepage, pricing page and AI interview page, all linked under Sources.
The short answer
TestGorilla is a skills-testing library with an AI interview add-on. NTRVSTA is a live AI interviewer with resume scoring. Choose TestGorilla if you want low-cost, self-serve skills tests and job simulations to filter a big applicant pool, with optional async AI interviews and a free plan to start. Choose NTRVSTA if you want candidates to talk with an interviewer in real time, as a video avatar or audio, that changes its questions and difficulty based on what they say.
Side by side: TestGorilla vs NTRVSTA
How NTRVSTA works
A test asks every candidate the same thing. An NTRVSTA interview doesn't. Each candidate meets an AI interviewer, as a video avatar or audio, at whatever time suits them, and the conversation bends to their answers: harder when they're cruising, easier when they stall. You come away knowing not just whether they passed but how they think and explain.
The exam library gives that conversation structure. It covers programming languages (Java, Python, C++, JavaScript and more), frameworks like React and Node.js, AI/ML and DevOps tools, and soft skills such as communication, problem-solving and leadership. Behavioral questions use STAR, system design uses an interactive whiteboard, and hints show how someone takes help. Reports score technical skills, English proficiency and communication, with video snippets. AI resume scoring ranks every applicant before you send invites.
How TestGorilla works
TestGorilla says it offers a library of 350+ pre-employment skills tests, plus job simulations and custom tests, all scored automatically. A separate product, Gorilla Sourcing, handles candidate outreach.
TestGorilla also sells AI interviews, which it describes as "AI-driven interviews that feel like a live call." Each has 3 to 9 structured questions with dynamic AI follow-ups, and candidates complete it on their own time. TestGorilla also offers one-way video questions. Its page doesn't state that the AI interview is a real-time, two-way voice or avatar conversation, which is why we list it as partial.
On compliance, TestGorilla's pricing page lists SOC 2 Type II and GDPR on all plans, and it says planned audits and prompt A/B tests watch for drift and bias. We didn't find a published NYC Local Law 144 audit. Customers it names include PayPal, PepsiCo, Revolut and Instacart.
When TestGorilla is the better choice
- You get hundreds of applicants per role and want a cheap, standardized test to narrow the pool before any interview.
- You want job simulations or custom tests for skills that a conversation doesn't measure well.
- You'd like to start on a free plan with 10 assessment credits a month.
- You also want sourcing outreach, which TestGorilla sells per seat.
Here's the other side, where NTRVSTA isn't the tool to pick. It runs interviews and scores resumes, but it isn't an ATS, and our native ATS connections are fewer than many larger tools offer. Our API isn't public yet. Frontline hiring at volume with SMS apply and chat scheduling suits Paradox or Fountain better. If you want human interviewers, Karat-style services fit. And we're newer, with fewer published enterprise case studies than established players. Some teams use a test first and an interview second, and that can be a sensible split.
Pricing compared
TestGorilla publishes its plans, with paid prices based on annual billing:
- Free: $0/mo, with 10 assessment credits a month, 5 essential tests and limited custom AI interviews.
- Assessments Core: from $215/mo, with all 350+ tests and a shared credit pool.
- Assessments Plus: from $520/mo, adding custom tests, job simulations, ATS and API integrations, and a 100+ AI interview library. Each AI interview uses 2 credits per candidate.
- Sourcing: $74/mo per seat (Core) or $134/mo per seat (Plus).
Our plans are credit-based too, but credits measure interview minutes: 1 per minute for audio and 3 for avatar. The Free Demo is $0 with 50 credits. Starter is $299/mo for 1,500 credits (about 30 interviews), Growth is $699/mo for 4,000 (about 80), and Scale is $1,999/mo for 12,500 (about 250). Enterprise is custom. Growth averages about $8.74 per interview, or $0.35 per minute, and a 25-minute interview uses 25 credits in audio or 75 with an avatar. Plug in your own numbers on our pricing calculator.
