Disclosure: we wrote this, and we built NTRVSTA, one of the TestGorilla alternatives on the list. We describe every other product only as its maker describes itself, and we link to those pages in Sources.
TestGorilla is a popular, self-serve way to add skills testing to the top of the funnel, with 350+ tests, job simulations and a free plan. People research TestGorilla alternatives for structural reasons more than complaints. Its AI interviews are completed on the candidate's own time with structured questions and AI follow-ups, and TestGorilla doesn't say they're a real-time, two-way conversation. Teams that want a live interviewer, or an avatar candidates can see, look elsewhere. Others want deeper job simulations, a much larger enterprise test library, or a bias audit they can point to (TestGorilla mentions planned audits but we didn't find a published NYC Local Law 144 audit). If cheap, broad testing is what you need, TestGorilla may still be the right call.
TestGorilla alternatives at a glance
1. NTRVSTA (us)
A skills test tells you whether a candidate can answer set questions. An interview tells you how they think. NTRVSTA runs the interview: a live AI interviewer, as a video avatar or audio only, that listens to each answer and adjusts what it asks next, raising the difficulty for strong candidates and easing off for others. TestGorilla describes its AI interviews as 3 to 9 structured questions with dynamic follow-ups that candidates complete on their own time. Ours is a real-time conversation, still available 24/7.
The exam library covers programming languages, frameworks and tools, plus soft skills like communication, problem-solving and leadership, and behavioral questions use STAR. Reports show a score breakdown and video snippets of key moments. We also publish an NYC Local Law 144 bias audit (Asenion, finalized October 20, 2026) on our compliance page. Where TestGorilla wins: its free plan, its 350+ test library for roles we don't cover, and its sourcing add-on. We don't sell standalone tests, and there's no public API yet. See NTRVSTA vs TestGorilla.
Best for: teams that want a real interview, not just a test, as the first step for technical and non-technical roles.
2. Vervoe
Vervoe goes deeper on simulations than TestGorilla. It says its AI Assessment Builder drafts role-based assessments from a job description, using simulations, spreadsheets, code, video, text and multiple choice, then machine-learning models grade and rank candidates with explainable scores. It adds chat and voice screening, ID verification, and a 120-day post-hire feedback loop. Vervoe says Holistic AI verified its NYC bias audit and runs an annual audit.
Best for: teams that want to hire on demonstrated job skills through realistic simulations.
3. iMocha
If TestGorilla's library feels too small, iMocha says it offers 10,000+ validated assessments across coding, cognitive, domain and communication skills, plus workforce skills intelligence. Its AI interviewer, Tara, asks questions candidates answer out loud and follows up based on what they say. iMocha lists SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001:2022. Pricing isn't published.
Best for: large enterprises that want a huge assessment library and an AI interviewer from one vendor.
4. CodeSignal
For technical roles, CodeSignal goes further than general skills tests. It offers coding assessments, AI-assisted coding tasks with its Cosmo co-pilot, live interviews and an AI Interviewer that talks with candidates by phone or browser. Prebuilt interviewers cover sales, finance and marketing too. Pricing is public, from $79/mo billed annually.
Best for: teams that need real coding evaluation plus AI interviews for go-to-market roles.
5. Interviewer.AI
Interviewer.AI focuses on video. Its Essential plan ($199/mo) gives AI-scored one-way video interviews and resume screening, and Professional ($399/mo) adds what it calls conversational, avatar-led interviews with dynamic follow-ups and fraud checks. There's a 14-day free trial on paid plans.
Best for: teams that want video screening with AI scoring at a predictable monthly price.
6. Glider AI
Glider AI combines assessments, coding simulations, AI and one-way video interviews, AI voice phone screens, ID verification and proctoring. It's widely used by staffing and contingent-workforce firms and lists integrations like Bullhorn, Beeline and JobDiva. Findem announced a definitive agreement to acquire Glider AI on March 19, 2026. Pricing isn't published.
Best for: staffing firms that want testing, interviews and integrity checks in one platform.
When to stay with TestGorilla
Stay with TestGorilla if you want a low-cost, self-serve way to test lots of candidates on lots of skills. Its free plan includes 10 assessment credits a month and 5 essential tests, Assessments Core starts at $215/mo billed annually, and Assessments Plus ($520/mo billed annually) adds custom tests, job simulations, ATS and API integrations and a 100+ AI interview library. It lists SOC 2 Type II and GDPR on every plan. Customers it names include PayPal, PepsiCo and Revolut.

Questions
Are TestGorilla's AI interviews live?
TestGorilla describes them as AI-driven interviews that feel like a live call, with structured questions and dynamic follow-ups. It also says candidates complete them on their own time, and it doesn't state that they're a real-time two-way conversation.
Should I use a skills test or an AI interview first?
It depends on volume. A short test is a cheap filter for very large pools. An interview gives richer signal on reasoning and communication. Many teams test first, then interview the top group.
Which TestGorilla alternative has the biggest test library?
Among the tools here, iMocha says it offers 10,000+ validated assessments, far more than TestGorilla's 350+. Vervoe builds custom simulations from your job description instead of relying on a fixed library.
