Full disclosure: this list of AI interview tools for Ashby was written by NTRVSTA, and NTRVSTA is one of the seven tools on it. A tool made the list only if its vendor names Ashby on its own website. We report each vendor's claims as theirs and link the source pages at the end.
TL;DR
If you run Ashby, there's a good chance you're a fast-growing team that hires engineers early. So this Ashby AI interview shortlist leans technical: live AI interviewers, AI-led coding canvases and classic coding tests, plus one-way video for teams on a tight budget. The best choice depends on which round eats the most recruiter hours today.
- Best for a live, adaptive first round across engineering and business roles, with public pricing: NTRVSTA (us)
- Best for recruiter notes plus a voice screen: Metaview
- Best for testing coding and AI fluency in one session: HackerRank (Chakra)
- Best for proctored coding tests: Codility
- Best for very simple async video: Hireflix

What actually matters when adding an Ashby AI interview
Teams that track their hiring funnel closely should judge a tool by what it does to those numbers. Ask how quickly candidates complete the interview after invite, what share finish it, and how often hiring managers agree with its recommendations. A vendor that can't help you measure those things during a pilot will be hard to evaluate later.
Then check how much of the loop the tool covers. Some vendors here only run a first-round conversation. Others add sourcing, notes on later human interviews, or coding environments. Buying a broader tool can save a contract, but only if each piece is good enough for your roles. Also check plan gating: HackerRank puts ATS integrations on Pro, and several others reserve ATS links for higher tiers.
Finally, think about the candidate. Early-stage companies compete hard for talent, and a cold or repetitive first round can cost you the people you most want. Try each interview yourself as a candidate before you buy. Our guide on how AI interviews are scored also helps you judge the reports you'll get back.
1. NTRVSTA (us)
NTRVSTA lists Ashby among its ATS integrations. Our NTRVSTA + Ashby page covers the purpose: the AI interview result stays with the candidate in Ashby, so nobody keeps a side spreadsheet of screen outcomes. Setup usually takes a few days, depending on how much you customize.
The AI interviewer meets each candidate live, as a video avatar or in an audio-only call, and changes questions and difficulty as the answers come in. That works for a backend engineer (an exam library with languages like Python and C++, frameworks like React and Angular, AI/ML and DevOps topics, and a whiteboard for system design) and for an account executive or ops hire (STAR behavioral questions on communication and problem-solving). Candidates can take it 24/7. Reports give a score breakdown, video snippets of key moments and a shareable summary for the hiring manager, and AI resume scoring ranks applicants before anyone is invited.
Pricing is on our pricing section: Starter $299/mo, Growth $699/mo, and Growth works out to about $8.74 per interview at 80 interviews a month. We also have a published NYC LL144 bias audit on our compliance page.
Where NTRVSTA isn't the right fit: if you want human engineers running interviews for you, an interview-as-a-service firm such as Karat fits better. We're also a newer, smaller company, with fewer published case studies than older vendors.
Best for: Ashby teams hiring engineers and business roles in the same wave who want one consistent first round.

2. Metaview
Ashby is one of the ATS platforms Metaview names on its site. Metaview started by writing up human interviews automatically and has grown into a set of AI agents for sourcing, application review, outreach, reports and screening. Its Screening agent, launched September 9, 2026, talks with candidates by voice on demand, and Metaview says it adapts to the role and to each answer, with optional role-play and code-explanation questions. Its $60M Series C was announced on September 30, 2026.
Sourcing seats cost $0, $100 or $300 per user a month. Screening's paid rate isn't published beyond the first 25 free screens.
Best for: Ashby teams that already want AI notes on every interview and like the idea of one vendor for the first round too.
3. Ribbon
Ribbon names Ashby alongside Greenhouse, Workday and other ATS platforms, and says it works with 60+ in total. Candidates can take its AI interview by voice or video on a phone at any hour, and Ribbon says the questions adapt to their answers. Responses are scored against rubrics you define, with an integrity monitor for off-screen behavior. Ribbon also handles outreach by SMS, WhatsApp and email.
Ribbon offers a 7-day free trial and doesn't publish prices. Dayforce announced on October 23, 2026 that it had agreed to acquire Ribbon; the deal was still pending when we checked.
Best for: Ashby teams that want to test a live AI screen on their own before committing, especially for frontline or support roles.
4. HeyMilo
HeyMilo lists Ashby among the ATS platforms it connects to. It runs two-way AI voice and video interviews and can also screen by SMS or form, in 20+ languages. HeyMilo says it scores answers against your criteria, scores resumes, and adds ID checks and cheating flags. It raised $6M in total by June 2026, per press coverage. Pricing isn't published.
Best for: Ashby teams that screen many applicants for support, sales or operations roles and want several channels.
5. HackerRank (Chakra)
HackerRank lists Ashby among its ATS connections and also offers a REST API. Chakra, generally available since October 5, 2026, puts the candidate in a canvas with a real-world problem and an AI assistant, then asks spoken follow-ups about their decisions. HackerRank says it scores each competency with evidence. Starter is $199/mo, and ATS integrations come with Pro at $449/mo; Chakra's own price isn't published.
Best for: Ashby engineering teams hiring AI engineers or similar roles where how someone works with AI matters.
6. Codility
Codility lists Ashby among its ATS integrations. It has no AI interviewer; it sells async coding tasks and structured live technical interviews in a VS Code setting, with a Copilot whose use you control. Codility adds proctoring, ID verification and impersonation detection. Starter costs $1,200 a year for 120 invites and one user; Scale is $6,000 for 300 invites and three users.
Best for: Ashby teams that want a strict, proctored coding test before a human technical round.
7. Hireflix
Hireflix lists Ashby among its ATS integrations, with Zapier, Make, a GraphQL API and webhooks for anything else. Recruiters build a one-way video interview once and send it to unlimited candidates, who record on any device without an app. Hireflix doesn't describe AI features. Small is $75/mo and Medium is $150/mo, both billed yearly, with a one-month free trial.
Best for: small Ashby teams that just want recorded answers to a few fixed questions at the lowest cost.

Questions
Which Ashby AI interview tools have public pricing?
On this list, NTRVSTA, Codility and Hireflix publish full plan prices, HackerRank publishes its assessment plans, and Metaview publishes sourcing prices and says the first 25 screens are free. Ribbon and HeyMilo don't publish prices, though Ribbon offers a 7-day free trial.
Is an AI interview worth it for a startup on Ashby?
It pays off when recruiter time is the bottleneck, for example after a funding round when many roles open at once. If you hire one or two people a quarter, a well-run human phone screen may be all you need.
Should engineering candidates on Ashby take an AI interview or a coding test?
It depends on what you want to learn. A coding test such as Codility checks working code under controlled conditions. An AI interviewer such as NTRVSTA or HackerRank's Chakra asks follow-ups about how and why the candidate made choices. Many teams use one, then a human technical round.
Will candidates know they're talking to an AI on Ashby roles?
They should. Tell candidates up front that the first round is an AI interview, how long it takes and how results are used, and give them a way to ask for an accommodation. Clear notice also matters under laws such as NYC Local Law 144. This is not legal advice.

Prices, features and published Ashby support for each tool were checked in October 2026. Plans and integration lists move quickly at younger vendors, so confirm with each one before you buy.
