Sapia AI alternatives: 6 interview tools for voice, video and chat (2026)

Sapia.ai interviews every applicant by text chat. If you need to hear candidates, or want a price list, these are the options worth a look.

NTRVSTA wrote this guide, and we're one of the six Sapia AI alternatives in it, so weigh it as a vendor's view. Every claim about Sapia.ai and the others is limited to what those companies publish, with links in the Sources list.

Sapia.ai (formerly PredictiveHire) has run AI interviews since 2018 and says it has assessed more than 10 million candidates. Its format is distinctive: every applicant gets a structured interview by text chat, built per role in its Job Analysis Studio, with scores pushed into your ATS. That works well on a phone and at retail scale. Teams look at Sapia AI competitors when they want to hear how people speak and explain, need deeper technical rounds than a chat covers, or want prices up front, since Sapia.ai doesn't publish them. If your volume is huge and mobile-first, though, Sapia.ai may already be the right tool.

1. NTRVSTA (us)

The biggest difference from Sapia.ai is that candidates talk instead of type. NTRVSTA's AI interviewer holds a live, spoken conversation, either as a video avatar or as audio only, and raises or lowers the difficulty depending on each answer. You hear how someone explains a decision, handles a follow-up, or uses a hint from our optional hint system. Technical roles get an exam library covering languages, frameworks, AI/ML and DevOps tools, plus a whiteboard for system design. Behavioral questions follow the STAR method.

Prices are public, starting with a Free Demo plan, and our NYC Local Law 144 audit by Asenion is on our compliance page. Where we fit less well: high-volume hourly flows built on SMS apply and chat scheduling, where Paradox or Fountain are stronger. We're also newer and have fewer published enterprise case studies. For the full comparison, see NTRVSTA vs Sapia AI.

Best for: teams hiring engineers, analysts, sales and support staff who need a spoken first round with adaptive depth.

2. HireVue

HireVue launched its AI Interviewer in June 2026. HireVue says it drafts questions and rubrics from the job description, runs a two-way voice interview around the clock with probing follow-ups, scores each answer against the role, and writes results to the ATS. The wider platform adds one-way and live video, game-based and skills assessments, and a "Match and Apply" chat agent.

Sapia.ai's long certification list is often part of why enterprises pick it, and HireVue can match much of that paperwork: SOC 2 Type 2, ISO/IEC 27001 and FedRAMP are on its site, along with a statement that its fairness audits cover New York City's Local Law 144. It doesn't post prices.

Best for: enterprises that want voice screening, video and assessments from one long-established vendor.

3. Paradox

Paradox shares Sapia.ai's text-first approach but points it at logistics more than assessment. Its assistant, Olivia, chats with candidates over web chat and SMS to take applications, ask screening questions, schedule interviews and handle onboarding steps. Paradox says Olivia detects 100+ languages and translates messages automatically.

Paradox has been part of Workday since that deal closed on October 1, 2025, though it keeps its own brand and website. Like Sapia.ai, it quotes prices only on request.

Best for: retail, restaurant and franchise employers that care most about speed from apply to scheduled interview.

4. Humanly

Humanly reaches high-volume applicants by SMS, email, chat and voice, and says its AI Interviewer runs structured interviews across chat, voice and video, asking every candidate the same questions before delivering a ranked shortlist with transcripts. It has grown by acquisition: Teamable in 2024, then Sprockets, Qualifi and HourWork, announced October 14, 2025. Its suite now spans AI Recruiter, AI Interviewer, AI Notetaker, a talent CRM and an ATS.

Humanly integrates with Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, iCIMS, Greenhouse, UKG, Oracle Taleo and others. Pricing isn't published, and we didn't find named certifications or an LL144 audit on its site.

Best for: teams that like Sapia.ai's structure but want chat, voice and video options from one vendor.

5. Fountain

Sapia.ai plugs into your ATS; Fountain replaces it. Fountain bundles applicant tracking, a CRM, sourcing, onboarding and shift scheduling, coordinated by an agent named Cue. The interview itself is spoken: Anna, Fountain's voice agent, talks with applicants by phone or in a browser, and Fountain's FAQ says she asks clarifying questions and adjusts to what candidates say. Each interview comes back with a score, a summary, the transcript and the audio.

Fountain lists SOC 2 and doesn't publish pricing.

Best for: high-volume hourly employers ready to swap both their ATS and their chat screen for one frontline platform.

6. Ribbon

Ribbon says its AI interviewer runs two-way voice or video interviews from any phone, 24/7, adapting to each answer and scoring against custom rubrics. It adds sourcing, talent rediscovery and outreach by SMS, WhatsApp and email, mainly for frontline roles, in 10 languages. Ribbon says it has an NYC Local Law 144 bias audit, last done in 2025, and it offers a 7-day free trial.

Before you sign, note the pending change of owner. On October 23, 2026, Dayforce said it had agreed to buy Ribbon, and as of our check the purchase was still awaiting completion.

Best for: frontline teams that want to switch from chat to spoken screening and test it themselves first.

When to stay with Sapia.ai

Stay if a text interview is the point. A chat that candidates can finish on a phone, in their own words and on their own time, is a real advantage at retail and service volumes, and Sapia.ai has years of data behind its scoring. Its certification list is among the longest here (SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO/IEC 42001, 27001, 27017 and 27018). It also connects to ATS platforms common in Australia, New Zealand and the UK, such as PageUp, Humanforce, eArcu and Tribepad, alongside Workday, SAP SuccessFactors and iCIMS.

Questions

Is Sapia.ai a chat interview or a voice interview?

Chat. Sapia.ai says it runs a structured, text-based interview that candidates complete in a chat, and its site doesn't describe a voice or video interviewer. If you want to hear candidates speak, look at NTRVSTA, HireVue, Fountain or Ribbon.

What is the closest Sapia AI competitor?

For a text-first experience on a phone, Paradox and Humanly are the closest, since both run chat and SMS conversations at volume. For a spoken first round, Fountain and Ribbon focus on frontline roles, HireVue on large enterprises, and NTRVSTA on technical and professional roles.

Does Sapia.ai have an NYC Local Law 144 bias audit?

Sapia.ai links an independent bias audit from its homepage: a disparate impact analysis of its Chat Interview by BLDS, LLC. The audit page refers to New York City's law as forthcoming and gives no audit date, so ask Sapia.ai for a current Local Law 144 summary if you hire in NYC. NTRVSTA's audit by Asenion was finalized October 20, 2026.

Which Sapia.ai alternative can I try for free?

Ribbon advertises a 7-day free trial, and NTRVSTA has a Free Demo plan with 50 credits plus a sample interview anyone can take. HireVue, Paradox, Humanly and Fountain work through demos and sales.
